Three hens, all with egg issues

Thank you. These girls actually have it pretty good, so their habitat is fine - they get lots of exercise, live in a big ex-pottery studio with sky lights, etc. The only variable in your response is the parasites: when I took one of them to the (useless) vet, I asked them to check for mites...

Three hens, all with egg issues

This has been going on for about 6 months. One hen will not lay for a long time, and during that time there looks to be yolk in her poop. When she resumes laying, the yolk disappears. She is currently pooping yolky, no eggs. Second hen has always had issues with being egg bound, but now only...

Three hens, all with egg problems

Can someone PLEASE tell me what's going on with my chickens? One is laying only shellless eggs, another (a bird barely a year old) stopped laying for 3 months and has just begun again, and the third lays well, then stops and when she stops, there is yolk in her poop. I've taken one to the vet...

Big chunk of feathers gone from Astralorp's tail

No, no broodies. I have 3 hens - two are semi-retired (she's one of them) and the other is barely a year old and showing no signs of broodiness. I didn't mention how uniformly chomped the feathers look to be. It's like a giant took a bite out of her tail. If Astralorps didn't have such full...

Big chunk of feathers gone from Astralorp's tail

I'd been noticing for a while that my Astralorp had some tail feathers that appear to have broken off about 2 inches down, but it wasn't until I went in the coop the other night and saw for the first time her tail fanned out that I realized there is a big half circular chunk of feather missing...

    Yolks in poop?

She's eating a high end layer feed, as well as grazing and table scraps. One of my other hens laid a shelless egg the other day (well, the shell was there, it was just a wrinkly weird little sac). I'm going to start feeding them oyster shells to see if that helps.

    Yolks in poop?

One of my hens has stopped laying, which she does periodically, but I've been noticing what looks like yolk in her poops. Is this possible, and if so, does anyone have any idea what's going on? She's slightly less than her usual sassy self, but not terribly so.
