    when it rains it pours

We haven’t had much wind. We had a pretty HOT summer here in Alaska. We did have a 5.1 earthquake yesterday so I’m thinking that’s what did it. It was a perfect healthy live tree! It grazed our septic as well. So crazy!!!!

    when it rains it pours

I posted last week in the predator forum. Lost a chicken to a hawk. Spent so much time and energy getting the run fixed up. Ugh. They just calmed down finally from that experience. We heard a loud noise in the middle of the night. I shrugged it off thinking it was the cat being weird. 6:30 am...

That’s what i came in looking for! They only had the metal stuff. And i got the metal. Yea. That did not work. I’m going to use it on the bottom of the fence again but from the outside this time. Man that stuff is a pain to work with. It has a mind of it’s own lol.

so sad. lost my sweetest chicken. Help on netting?

I looked at Walmart. Ugh. Nothing. I ended up putting the screen door material i got at Lowe’s on the half of the run where there were large gaps in the twine and few light baby blankets as well. That’s what’s coming in the mail on Saturday. Shipping takes forever here even from amazon usually...

so sad. lost my sweetest chicken. Help on netting?

UPDATE: HAWK CAME BACK. I was putting my kids to bed and i had a feeling to go check. There it was right on the outside of the coop looking in the window! So clearly it couldn’t get in the run but still yikes. If i hadn’t been out there It may have tried to squeeze in somewhere. Makes me...

mine are 4 weeks old now. I’ve calmed down just a small amount haha. But i do need more space for them. Ugh. Still to cold here in Alaska to put them in an unheated coop. Unheated because the anxiety i have thinking of the thing catching fire is just overwhelming. I’m thinking about extending my...
