So my girls have just started really getting in the swing of laying. I would like to get some light for their coop for winter. Ideally I could set the timer for a few hours in the early morning before the sun comes up. I have no source of power at my coop. All of the solar lights I have found do...
I sent my husband to the feed store to get my 18 week old hens/pullets some feed. Before I read the sack we had loaded all the feeders (50lbs). Are they going to be OK with this for a few weeks? I’ve got one or two girls that have started playing and I have supplemental oyster shells out for them.
I’ve noticed her poop being solid this am but in very small amounts. I haven’t observed her drinking but she’s eating. Unknown if it’s in “normal” volume. So strange. She looked like she wasn’t going to make it yesterday and this morning she looks fine.
I went on vacation for a week and my father took care of the chickens. He said everyone looks good. Yesterday morning An Orpington was very lethargic with her head hanging to the ground. I removed her quickly from the others. All of the other girls are beginning to lay for the first time so we...
I got a few girls from my husbands buddy and this pullet was identified as a black Maran. Doesn’t seem right to me with those white feathers. Any thoughts?
This is my 16 week barred rock. She seems pretty red it to me. Do you think she will be laying soon? My girls are still on a grower feed, should I get some oyster shells in case she is ahead of the rest of them?
I’ll look into apple cider vinegar for sure. We tried different shavings in her brooder and now she is just living free range in our front yard. LOL, she sleeps by her front door. (It’s warm here)
We did 3 weeks of OXYTETRACYCLINE HCI in her water along with Vet RX and we even tried Terramycin ointment because she has no other symptoms. We noticed it when she was nearly 3 weeks old. She is now nine weeks and just as happy and healthy otherwise as her sisters.
I had a post about a chicken with a respiratory infection I can’t get rid of. She is separated from the flock and has no other outward signs but bubbly eye and sneezing. Can you help me list all my antibiotic options? I may try a different one. Worth a shot.
She has been separated for about 6 weeks. No other birds showing symptoms. She does sneeze sometimes and the drainage from the eye has caused some loss of feathers from around the eye. We ran about 3 weeks of oxytetracycline HCI and have used Vt RX and even tried terramycin ointment on her eye.
