That is definitely not an egg.. this could be str8 urine.. as it's the white color.. however you need to waite almost another 12 weeks before your RIR will begin laying.. for this time of year atleast. I would keep and eye out.. look at the bottoms of your chickens.. with that much mess there...
Hey guys.. I have a Rooster that is sitting alot.. the same roo that I thought ..or should I say should have been a hen..lol Up until a few days ago.. he was pretty spry... but seems to be sitting a little more than usual.. the last few days..not minding if the girls peck at him a little...

and two she was sold as americauna?
This is a very large...bird.. and seems to have the same characteristics as my RIR rooster.. they get into it quite often.. now nine weeks old? Just wondering if it is a rooster.. I would like to make decisions early.. way before real trouble brews!
lol I think everyone is getting me all wrong.. probably my fault!.. I just noticed that there are huge amounts of posts about everyone having huge issues. I think problems start when you start treating a chicken like a dog or a house cat. So many feeds and chemicals.. and way too much...
My girls are now eight weeks old and have been out in the coop for a little over four weeks. I used a heat lamp at night for 1 week.. and two weeks out in the run now.. all day! They are into grower pellets now and seem very happy eating everything! Rasberries are a gianormous hit!! cracked...
well two things may have happened.. yes they definitely could have killed them.. because if you didn't introduce them slowly to the rest of the girls to identify pecking order...this takes a week to four days with a seperation netting. Secondly it could be disease or stress or both.. lets...
let them be chickens and not pets.. and you will be fine.. love them and all.. but just always remember to let them be chickens...a pecking order and everything.. there are going to be days when you are not there.. so let them learn very early!
Get a fan in there.. right away.. and circulate that air.. leave the doors open.. don't point the fan on them.. get ice cubes for thier water.. they are not going to know the difference about going bakck at night.. etc.. so no letting them out....you need to be with them and get them used to or...

most people have seen only horror stories about people with chickens.. ie. "THE NEWS" but when and if they ever meet someone who takes really good care of thier animals... they will see another side of the story.. so guess what....here comes your old budhist saying..."The first one tosee the...

Thanks lurky....upon further inspection.. that SHE!! definitely didn't like!! I have found out that.. she is indeed a HEN.. she just had some skin anomili's.. and just average run of the mill bumps... I compared her to my RIR ROOSTER.. who is actually more docile and loves to be handled...and...
