Thank you for the replies. She didn't make it through the night last night. :-( I had been supplementing her with nutritional yeast and probiotics but couldn't really get her to eat. I didn't see any signs of bumble foot. Sad duck mama here today.
My blue runner seemed to be limping last week. I kept my eye on her but still let her go out foraging and to the creek with the rest of the flock. A few days went by and there wasn't any improvement; in fact it worsened, so I took her aside and put her in her own pen away from the others. I...
Good idea with the Pom Pom! Right now she(?) has a dog toy teddy bear with a towel she enjoys sleeping and climbing on. I put her in a laundry basket so she can go around the house with me sometimes. We named her Riley. I keep calling it a her - for all I know I may have a drake!
Unfortunately the one that has the umbilical hernia/prolapse died during the night. . The other one is alone now and very attached to me. What’s the best way to raise a single duckling?? It’s late in the season so I can’t just get another one. Lol
I had to rescue two duck eggs from a broody mama who stopped sitting when the weather turned cold. They were in an incubator and seemed delayed in everything. 3 days between internal and external pip and still not hatched after about 50 hours. I finally assisted. Both made it the rest of the way...
Update: after more than 48 hours they needed assistance so now both are hatched. One of the two has a red bulge protruding from its belly and attached to a little sack of gooey stuff (not yolk). The other has the sack of gooey stuff but it seems no bulge. Is this some sort of hernia? Will the...
They have been in the incubator about 20 hours now and no sign of external pip. I think they internally pipped about 3 days ago. There has been a little bit of wobbling from both eggs. Is this normal? I’m on pins and needles. I hate to mess up the humidity by opening the incubator but I don’t...
They’ve been in the incubator for about 18 hours. Occasionally I see the eggs rocking a little but no external pip yet. Does that sound normal? I’ve never hatched in an incubator before so I’m trying to not be too worried haha but it’s tough!!
With this incubator I'm not sure how to set the humidity. It seems to only have a temp up and down setting. It has a tray for water in the bottom so I put 100 ml in there which is what the booklet said to do....
UPDATE: A friend loaned me her incubator so I misted the eggs and put them in at 99.4* F....crossing fingers they hatch! They both showed movement when I candled them before I put them in.

Yes, she has hatched a brood every year for the last 3 years. The ducks have a house to themselves and none of the other ducks are broody. They all come back to the house at night and during the day Ive been keeping a heat lamp on the eggs.
I was advised to post this here to see if anyone has any ideas!
One of my buff orpington ducks went broody late which I wasn’t thrilled about. I let her keep 3 eggs and two ended up being viable. She sat like a champ for about a month but then we had a cold snap and she’s left the nest. Both...
I think they internally pipped yesterday. I still see movement when I candled them earlier today and when I hold them to my ear I hear little scratching noises inside.
