This chick hatched around 11pm June 27 - 9am June 28th Central Time and hasn't flattened his feet yet. I absolutely did not help Crip (the chick) hatch.
One chick is a little aggressive and made it's sibling bleed just above their beak. It's a superficial wound.
Crip's siblings all hatched...
I read on a super old post that you had/have Onagadoris. Is that right? I'm in Texas and will need to expand my flock soon and you seem to be recommended. I also have an Ohiki Roo that I need a few hens/pullets for; just thought I might get lucky that you'd have both? Thank you and have a great day!
My 2mo Ohiki chick has an eye that very slowly drains, the gunk is contained within the eye, not spilling out. It's a mild infection, but obviously uncomfortable, if not painful for the chick. It's head is a bit crusty on that side. I think it caught a claw to the eye by the other bantam chick...
Thank you so much!! She just drooped when I tried to stand her up. I laid her in the box on top of a dish towel and back under the heat lamp. I put small dishes for food and water.
Within 5 minutes she is back to her normal self!! She's moving a little slower and a little uneasy on her feet...
I have a 3 week old Ohiki (Japanese Long Tail Bantam) who had partially swallowed some Pine Shavings. I removed what I could see with a bright flashlight. She was cold, my kid moved the chick cage away from the heat lamp on accident. Found it hours later. I wiped a thin layer of crust from her...
We named our lone survivor "Hope". We had Hoped it would make it. And now we Hope it's a hen. Lol. She's a psycho, rambunctious little tyrant. Doing great and throws around some serious attitude.
The others are about 9 weeks old. They are gentle Frizzles, but would definitely trample them.
So I rubbed down my Frizzles for no reason like a crazy person? Well, they liked it anyway. Lol.
I have ONE little dude that survived from a batch that was in an incubator that broke overnight and I found them the next morning, coldish and thought I was S.O.L.. It hatched 4 days overdue and it was an emergency extraction (everyone has their own opinion on assisting during hatching; it made...
None of them made it. I think they were just too dirty. We had 8 out of 22 that were fertile. Out of the 8, only 1 fully developed. The 7 others looked like they only developed for 2 weeks, then died. I had the temps and rotations alright. I am doing research on how to candle better. I think a...
They were shipped. Idk what kind of prep you're talking about. I placed them in an egg crate with fat end up for 24 hrs. I'd heard to not wash them because the Hen had a coating to help protect them. Then someone told my Ma last night that they were supposed to be washed. The pipped one didn't...
Ok. Got them out. Do I need to do anything with the already pipped one? It has broken thru the protective sack, will it harden the inside and prevent him from hatching since it was exposed to outside air?
We have been candling. All of the unfertilized were removed before the 3 day lock down. Should I remove the stinkers this late in the lockdown? Thank you soooo much for your input!!
I know that with incubation, eggs hatch on their own time. Mine are 24 hrs over due, that's not what worries me.The problem I'm having is that none of them are even wiggling, except for one. It has a small peep and wiggles very rarely. With this batch, I have a few eggs that have droplets of...
