Hiya, I thought you'd appriciate an update.
Unfortunately Nugget passed away ealier today at 7 years old. Essentially her organs and muscles gave up, crop impaction was a side effect of her digestive system giving up.
She had a great life :')
We had a quail and the dog got her through the meshh and ripped of her feathers and skin around her neck. Quail are very hardy birds. She lived inside with us for a few weeks, isolated from the others and applied disinfectant and kept it clean. She made a full recovery although her feathers...
Yeah I was thinking impacted crop. I looked in their coop where she usually perches and there's just watery liquidy poo. I massaged her crop a bit, it's roughly the size of a golf ball but not not hard.
I'm gonna monitor her and give her water every so often 🤞
Hi, we have a 7 year old pekin bantam called Nugget, we have owned her, her whole life and is very loved. She lives with 3 other pekin bantams and their behaviour is all fine.
Today I went out to see Nugget still on the perch, so I left her thinking she's just having a lie in. I went back 20...
Hello :)

She's ok for feeding herself as long as it is at a suitable height for her to reach comfortably but we don't see her drink much. There's a water bottle that we added in there (the ones for rabbits and guinea pigs) but she's still learning how to drink for it right
:Update post:
A couple days ago I made a post on her after she put her head upside down and couldn't seem to bring it back up again and we had no idea what was up with her. Long story short we have come to the conclusion that she most likely has Wry Neck.
Early days but she has perked up a bit...
Hello, we have a young pekin bantam, she's aprox 8 weeks.
The last few days she's been a bit lethargic but I was keeping an eye on her hoping it would pass but then suddenly today she was just minding her business and then she puts her head upside down and can't seem to bring it back up again...
