Hmm, actually I think you're both onto something and I don't know why I didn't remember this before!
When I collected the eggs, I saw the rooster was a white (he was keeping his distance so I couldn't see exactly his colour) and his hens were buff, buff laced, chamois and white BUTsome of the...
Thanks, to be honest I'm not confident on quality but she's sweet and the only splash I had, the rest were blue. I've attached better photos of Princess, she could still be blue but she's almost spotless and very warm tones rather than cool. I tried to clean her up, it been raining a lot and she...
Funny enough the splash leghorn is in the third photo (I thought she was a silver pencilled Hamburg). I have attached the splash leghorn here now too (please ignore her dodgy comb). I actually have two random babies that someone gave me too. I thought both were white but I am seeing one bright...
Oh I had no idea it could be off white too! I have a splash leghorn and a another splash polish, both of whom out spots Princess (looks like the splash you'd imagine) and both very white, which is why I doubted my first assumption of her being splash.
Thanks for your reply!
Me again with more questions. Love my genetics but can't work out for the life of me this girl.
Princess, hatched out of with yellow down and when her feathers came in she was what I thought white/splash (there was some dark flecks). As she grew I started to notice it wasn't white and then...
HAHA! Well it looks like its undisputed! Although I realise now that the lavender is NOT part of the belgians. Its meant to be an Araucana and that black one could be part of the Araucana too (both with feathered feet - go figure).
From that Breeder I hatched 5 Belgians and 8 Araucana - I had...
I hatched Belgian d'Uccle eggs last mid January. I purchased these eggs from what I thought was an honest and diligent breeder but I've found only one in my eyes actually looks like a D'Uccle and that was until I went to a breeder who had GOOD belgians and their younger chicks looked A LOT...
I guess now only time will telL. I'll get a photo of the other two "wheaten" with this one cause it's a big one compared to them. He was also born before lockdown (dates might have been wrong) poor little guy just sat quietly turning every two hours.
I purchased eggs. Funny you say that. I also purchased Belgian d'Uccles and one turned out to be frizzled. These Araucana all came from blue eggs but I wonder if something else has snuck in.
I've attached a better shot of his comb.
I hatched a handful of Araucana. 3 "wheaten", 2 black and 3 lavender. This one in particular is very very friendly and I fear he might be a boy. Can anyone tell at this stage? Also I quoted wheaten because I don't think they're wheaten. They're not lavender or black but can anyone guess it's...
hmm I actually didn't think that was not normal. She's had that purple skin from birth - she also has little smuts of purple skin over her body and under her eyes, just a tiny little dot.
Per the photo attached. I thought it was her colour - does purple skin on the bottom half of their behind...
Finally able to transfer the image from my phone. Im computer savvy but phones... nope.
I had to hold her wings because they blocked the camera view. She's also a little dirty still after the wash (I ended up taking her back to the basin for another clean after the photo)
As you can see total...
Thanks for the photos
I hope she will be healthy for years like Tailless.
So far its just her dirty bald butt thats a concern. Else she is very alert, energetic and eats and drinks and "fights" like the best of them.
I won't be breeding or selling her either -so there is no worry about...
I don't think there was vibrating but Im sure the humidity was too high during incubation (teetered around 60 then 70+ during hatch). The incubator tilts every 2 hours - there might be vibration when that occurs.
I am still waiting for the breeder to get back to me about any of her chooks...
I hatched eggs two weeks ago (long story, only 3 hatched - lesson learned) but of the three. I had this little white (though might be splash cause her skin has patches of dark). When I first saw her I thought she looked a bit weird but kept my speculation that she's rumpless to myself. Now two...
For the record of anyone reading this thread who has similar looking chicks) these all turned out to be hens, although the Wyandotte waited for 33 weeks before she started (added edit : laying her eggs!
Thank you for those who replied, very informative and I have become more knowledgeable for it.
