Winter 2024-2025 - storm windows added to the run.
Over time the vinyl sheets we use to protect the covered run from wind and snow have been shrinking making it very difficult to install in cold weather and to open and close when ventilation was needed. So we came up with these hinged frames...
I have several English Orpington cockerels to rehome.
They are 15 weeks old, the White and Chocolate Cucckoo are from Carolina Rare Chicks eggs, the Black, and Blue are from my Lavender Rooster (Blue Mountain Orpingtons) and English Orpinfton hens. Pictures of my rooster and one of my hens...
English Orpington cockerels. White and chocolate cuckoo are from Carolina Rare Chicks eggs, Black and blue are from My Lavender roo and English Oprington blue hens.
I have two of them, and I do like them. I found this post because I was troubleshooting an issue. In my case the issue was resolved.
This is my experience with this door:
Obviously I like it, since I bought a second one. I have a large coop with a separate area for chicks and to introduce...
In 2023 I decided I would not subject any day-old chicks to shipping. Instead I decided to hatch some eggs.
I ended up with a combination of shipped eggs from Carolina Rare Chicks (English Orpingtons) and eggs from my own flock (Lavender Orpington Roo over Lavender/Blue/Buff/Chocolate...
Yes I agree they are not cheap! The motor cover definitely helps, also not cheap but if it helps save the mothor definitely worth it.

Out of 30 eggs feom my own hens only 14 were fertilized. All 14 developed. A day before lockdown I removed 6 and gave them to my broody hens. All the 14 eggs hatched, 6 under my hens, 8 in the Maticoopx incubator.
I have 2 Maticoopx incubators, so I now have 28...
Update:
Eggs from my own flock, Incubator 2 and Broody hens:
All of the 6 eggs that I gave to the hens hatched, and hatched 1 day earlier that tne ones that I kept in the incubator. Of these 6 I helped 2 that seemed to be a bit “squished” meaning they were completely zipped but the chick was...
Here’s an update on the other batch of eggs (from my flock)
Last night the ones I placed under my broody hens to hatch started peeping and one definitely pipped.
This morning I have 4 pipping in the incubator.
