Swollen abdomen, unable to get on roost

Hi all, I've been reading lots of threads regarding similar issues for the last couple of days. My 2.5 yr RI Red mix has been waddling, tail feathers tucked and her abdomen is swollen. I've kenneled her inside the house and provided a heat lamp. She ajado shakes her head a bit. Her...

    Red spongy bottom

Wyorp Rock - Thanks for responding! Every thing seems normal, with eating, etc. I did find an egg in the compost area yesterday late afternoon, it was possibly hers. (Laying outside of the nest boxes is a very rare occurrence.) The shell was very thin and it had a small crack - the dog was...

    Red spongy bottom

Hoping for some ideas on what this, might be. One of my silver laced Wyandottes has been losing her beautiful fluffy butt feathers. I managed to give her a "bottom bath" as I also noticed her vent was a bit dirty. Her bum/abdomen are red and spongy. She acts normal though. She's around 2 yrs...

What is wrong?? Silkie mixed breed hen is emaciating, poor appetite, ratty feathers, one night dropped many small feathers

Thanks for all of your comments! Happy news! She's doing better not just sitting around. Late yesterday she seemed to perk up and paced back and forth when I took her outside. She could hear her sisters and ate some regular feed. So, I put her back with her friends & watched her carefully...

What is wrong?? Silkie mixed breed hen is emaciating, poor appetite, ratty feathers, one night dropped many small feathers

Thank you for answering, Eggcessive! You have blessed so many with your knowledge! She's 4 yrs old. I don't think she's moulting, except there were a bunch of very small feathers underneath where she slept. She hasn't laid any eggs in a while... thank you for the idea with the watermelon--I...

What is wrong?? Silkie mixed breed hen is emaciating, poor appetite, ratty feathers, one night dropped many small feathers

The 1st picture is her poop. The other 2 show that her topknot is now barely there and her comb is wilted. It's been very hot here in Arizona but I have a mister system and lots of shade, and water for them to stand in. I can't figure out why she is acting so lethargic and not hungry. Any...

Good girl gone broody - how do I know when she's done?

I've got a Columbian Wyandotte that's been broody for a month! I keep taking her out of the nest box several times a day, she will eat, drink and dust bathe. I hoped it would stop by now but I think I will have to try jail time. Thanks for the pictures showing the hardware cloth on the bottom...

Injured eye, 10 month old Easter Egger

Nendei, She did lay her 1st egg at 11 months - she's a late bloomer... Now I get a pale blue egg from her every other day or so. Unfortunately, she is now blind it that eye but is healthy in every other way and has adapted in spite of the blindness.

Injured eye, 10 month old Easter Egger

Yes every couple of days I get a normal slightly bigger egg than this little one. She has been eating drinking normally and can get to the roost without any issues. The others still peck at her for no reason - bratty little bitties!

Injured eye, 10 month old Easter Egger

Yes, I did receive a couple of replies. Poor baby, I think she's permanently blinded in that eye as it hasn't responded to treatment. Thank you for your comment about the vent. (I only had her on her back for a few seconds to take the pic.) I found a very strange egg about a week after my...

Injured eye, 10 month old Easter Egger

I don't think she has eaten, at least it doesn't look like she has, soldier fly larvae are still where I left them - it's been two full days so she must be drinking right? Her poop is greenish with some yellow and very little. Also, I don't think she has ever laid an egg. Does this look like a...
