    Pasty Butt!!

I bought a bunch of chicks 5 days ago and this included 4 bantam chicks and 7 golden comets (which are quite alot larger then the bantams). The day after I got them, 3 of the bantams had pasty butt. I took care of them the way I've always done it and put them back. The next day, I checked on...

    Silver Laced Wyandotte Molt

I have 3 Silver Laced Wyandottes and they are just over 10 months old. I've heard that overall, chickens dont start molting until 18 months old and in the fall. However, my Silver Laced Wyandottes look weird and without feathers. I have 3 other breeds of chickens and all of them are perfectly...

    15 Week Old Emergency!!

Ok, thanks! They got sick early november and I posted a thread. 3 of them died suddenly for no reason. After some replies came through, I came to the conclusion that it was coccidiosis. They recommend that I should treat them for 8 days with corid which I did. It's been just over a month and...

    15 Week Old Emergency!!

This morning, as I was going out to do my chickens, I noticed that one if my 15 week old chicks was sitting there with its eyes closed and feathers puffed up. She looked like she was going to die so I brought her inside in a box. She has perked up alittle bit but I was wondering if there is...

    3 CHICKS, 2 WEEKS!! HELP!!!!

Yes, their tail feathers seem to droop. Although I did notice this, I didn't think anything of it because I thought that this happens when they are young. No trouble standing though. I am sure though that one of those that died was sick but seemed to get better. But the two latest ones didn't...

    3 CHICKS, 2 WEEKS!! HELP!!!!

I don't think anything I have fed them because I dont give any special treat to chicks until at least 4 months old. As for the feed, there feed is always given to them straight away. Unless a rodent sneaked into the bag (possibility). Thanks for your input 😁

    3 CHICKS, 2 WEEKS!! HELP!!!!

I started off with incubating eggs one day and only one hatched. I ordered 6 more from my pet chicken hatchery to keep this chick company. At the moment, they are all 2 months and a few days and are fully feathered and kept in a separate coop inside my older chickens run. 2 weeks ago, when...

What to do with the chick

It is day 21 of incubation and 1 out of 4 chicks fully hatched this afternoon. The chick is completely dry now and I was wondering if I should still keep it in the incubator overnight. The other 4 eggs still show no signs of pipping and this is the only chick that hatched. Should I put it in a...

    Egg Problem

This is my first time hatching eggs from an incubator so bare with me!! One of my eggs started hatching yesterday on day 19 at around 4 PM. It has been a little over 24 hours and there has been little progress and I can still hear chirping from that chick every so often. I want to avoid opening...

    Candling

Another question I have is humidity. I've heard anywhere from 45% - 75% in the first 17 days. Is this true? Will the eggs die if the humidity and humidity change too much?

    My African Grey

Oh, okay. I got mine to help protect my chickens. Its awsome seeing her flap her wings and warn them when there is a hawk. She'll be pacing the fence with the roosters when there is a hawk or two while the hens stay back. So far shes been a great investment!!
