Egg Bound Hen passed. What more could I have done?

My last post explains the situation. She just passed. She died so quickly. It’s only been 24 hours since I noticed her acting differently. The day prior she was out running around doing her thing w/ her sisters no signs of anything negative. is there anything more I could have done? I gave...

Egg Bound. Not looking good. Advice.

Okay sounds good. I really don’t know what to do right now. She’s so tired all of a sudden and I should be giving her water, but if she’s about to go I don’t want to keep bothering her. Uhg.

Egg Bound. Not looking good. Advice.

Okay, I would say she last laid the day before yesterday. She’s 2.5 years old. I haven’t seen any soft or thin shells. However, there was a pale egg recently but I can’t remember if it could have been hers or not. I’ll keep up w: fluids and calcium. Should I try bath again tonight or tomorrow...

Egg Bound. Not looking good. Advice.

Let the girls out yesterday. 1 didn’t leave the coop. Checked her out. She was walking with her tail down and ignoring food and water. No egg from her. I don’t have good experience w/ this but I felt what I think was an egg inside her. I immediately gave her calcium citrate +d3. Probably...

Blu kote on Featherless vent? Opinions

She’s just at 13 months a few days ago.. one of the other girls, same age, is in the middle of a molt right now herself... I’m hoping she starts soon... and I put the blu kote on last night because the very tip of one of the quills coming in on the vent had a tiny dried blood drop on it. This...

Blu kote on Featherless vent? Opinions

My S.W. has been without vent feathers for months now.. from what I witnessed the day before she went bare it was from a picker. I haven’t witnessed any feather picking since and I spend a lot of time with these girls. None of the girls show signs of mites or lice. Very clean environment and...

Not looking like a parasite, good news! ....looks like a type of roach, gross news. I don’t know much about roaches and kinds but that would be one TINY species of them haha

What are these little SOB’s... mites, lice?

I catch these little bastards in the nooks and crannies of the lumber outside the coop. Iv never seen any on the inside on their perches, spent a lot of hours day and night investigating and their never in the coop or on perch. ( I also sealed up any space between lumber inside the coop so...

Homemade saddle for hen, what do we think?

Uhg I know. I’m praying they do. I was SO mad when I walked in on her laying and one of the girls picking her feathers. She’s just hanging right now with it on she stopped picking at it and she even took a dust bath in it and had no issues so I’m super relieved.

Homemade saddle for hen, what do we think?

I made this saddle for her today to protect her from anyone potentially nipping at the new quills. As their starting to come in it seems and iv been waiting for her to get her feathers back for 6 months now. A sneaky a** sister pulled them out while she was vulnerable laying her first egg...

    Molting or something else?

Okay awesome, I figured but I always like to make sure with people that know more.. a lot of things I read online saying 18 months min. threw me off.. the rest of them aren’t tho so I hope they either start ASAP or hold off until next sept before it starts getting cold lol

    Molting or something else?

Chickens are 13 months old, born mid sept. last year... last week I noticed my black Australorps feathers everywhere. Got nervous there was a feather plucker again as my silver Wyandotte got hers pulled out while she was laying her first egg. I started watching them even closer. But no bullying...

Do I need to “insulate” this coop for the winter??

From what I know they should be fine as is, but someone in tractor supply asked me if I insulated the coop for winter time... I’m in NJ over here not the arctic so I didn’t think it was necessary. Just wanted some opinions from you guys.
