Is not so much that it's easier. I can take care of the other 3. Honestly I'm curious to see the difference between chicken raised chickens and human raised chickens.
I had a broody hen that I decided to let hatch out eggs. There were 4 eggs in total. 2 of them hatched, a day apart from each other. After that, momma abandoned the other 2 eggs. So I put them in an incubator and 2 days later one hatched. The other egg.... Didn't make it.
The thing is, the...
My Pikachu (light Brahma roo) has new babies! Bingo did a fantastic job of kidnapping eggs and sitting on them. Lol
I'm 90% sure the little black ones mom is an Australorp and not a barred rock. Little yellow (Lucky) is part buff orphington.
So, it's my 6 years olds job to collect the (2) eggs that we get every day (for now, the hens have just started laying, there will be more). She dropped the egg basket on out concrete driveway today......one of the egg shells is COMPLETELY SHATTERED! But it's not leaking. Like the membrane is so...
Pikachu update ~*~*~ He is indeed a rooster. He does not crow. I don't know why. But I definitely caught him mating one of my hens. She just started laying a week ago.
I opened my coop door to check the nesting boxes and my roo was in there pecking at mouse he'd just caught. I just closed the door and backed away. Went back 10 minutes later and the mouse was gone. It was his first mouse. He's 4 months old. He caught a house finch in the backyard 2 weeks ago...
LOL, sorry about that! I'm glad you're is doing well too. I think maybe mine stuffed herself as well. She started at the bottom of the pecking order and she's moving her way up. Maybe she's eating more than her share now.
She's fine! It's a teensy bit squishy but I expect she drank a bit of water this morning. Yes I give them grit. There are also alot of rocks in my yard so they probably eat those too.
I know, I'm going to check her first thing in the morning. I left the water in there because it's so hot, but I did take their feeder out.
I'm just happy that it seemed to soften up before I put her back in the coop.
My 10 wk old Light Brahma had a crop the size of a golf all this evening. Yet she was continuing to eat like she was hungry. She'd lay down for a bit, then get up and keep eating. It's been worrying me as she's been doing this for a few hours. Her crop was very hard. I let them all settle down...
Beautiful day today in SE Michigan. Finally some relief for the chickies. And me! The garden is growing! I've got 2 zucchini! One more and I can make zucchini bread. I'm excited about that. I'll have to get them before the chickens do.
I'm TERRIBLE trying to draw on any kind of screen. I'm so much better with a pencil. I didn't start to draw until I was 24. I always thought I was just one of those people that couldn't do it. I was just using the wrong utensils. I learned alot of what I know about sharing from YouTube videos. I...
I started with acrylic paints when I started painting. I painted on the walls in my house lol. I love the way oil paint goes on and that it takes forever to dry, but it so messy and expensive that I just went back to pencil.
