    Broody Duck

Thank you! They all quack/scream loud as can be. I still have them separated from the other ducks. Usually when the temperature drops my drakes chill out. Hoping to turn them lose in a couple weeks.

    Broody Duck

Sorry for the delayed update. I really got lucky, all females. I will get more pictures soon. I could hardly believe my luck. This one pictured I think is crossed with a Welsh Harlequin. When her wings open you can see the blue feathers.

That’s so cool! Crazy how long they can live!

    Broody Duck

Getting bigger… I can’t tell if my gander likes or hates them. I have heard they are good dads. Not going to let them interact, but was just curious by how fascinated he is by them. Nobody else seems to really care.

    Grit

I have been using the fine chick grit for my pigeons. Should I be using something else? It’s granite I believe. Thanks.

Haha. I don’t have the best of luck either with straight run! I don’t blame you. Excited to see.

    Broody Duck

Thanks! They all look so unique. Can’t wait to see how they look like in a couple weeks. It’s cool to have ducks from your own ducks! Hopefully they aren’t all drakes. I would probably just make a bachelor pad.

    Owls?

I have brooded ducklings and chicks on my screened in porch multiple times. I have never had any issues. This summer I have a pair of pigeons on the porch in a secure cage until I get their loft finished. Tonight a Great Horned Owl busted through the screen! The dog barked and it was discovered...

    Broody Duck

That’s it. I candled them along the way and tossed bad ones. A few got cracked early on.

    Broody Duck

It was the first to hatch. It passed away. I have a waterer with save a chick in it. Another one hatched. All 4 seem to be doing great!

    Broody Duck

It seems okay. It just isn’t as active. As soon as I touch it will become alert. When I place it near the water it drinks. Just doesn’t seem as energetic.

    Broody Duck

I have 4 currently. The one in front doesn’t seem as alert and active as the others.

    Broody Duck

Okay. So I went to check on the eggs under my chicken and I saw a little crack with a beak inside moving! Hopefully soon!

    First time questions:

Yeah I figured it will take some time. I don’t even know how people know what breed they are? Some of the different ones look identical to me.

    First time questions:

Thank you so much! I really need some inspiration. I thought it would be cool to fly them, but the more I get to know them it makes me nervous. Maybe just around the yard or close by. We have hawks, but ever since I have had geese I have not lost a duck or chicken (2 years).

    First time questions:

I have shelves in their enclosure they sleep on. Just the pictures show them on other objects.
