No it never ends. I have 7 broody silkies right now. Five are in broody jail and 2 are sitting on eggs. I also have 2 mottled houdans who are in broody jail right now.
Our entire flock will come running if we yell CHICKENS. My kids trained one of them to come by name and they will go bug hunting together. They taught another one to jump onto things when they snap.
I feed all my chickens of all ages and genders organic starter/grower and I keep an extra feeder with oyster shells. I found the hens need the extra protein. I do not know if the medicated part is bad for them. I keep my chickens as organic as possible so I have never fed them medicated feed.

I have had this happen before. Usually a soft shell or hard shell will break and the hens will eat the shell before I collect the eggs so I am left with a few intact messy eggs.
