I just broke all my broody silkies (all five have been broody in the past two months), but now my two bantam orps and my OEGB went broody! Does it ever end?
No it never ends. I have 7 broody silkies right now. Five are in broody jail and 2 are sitting on eggs. I also have 2 mottled houdans who are in broody jail right now.

@Hinotori two of my silkie grow outs have massive crests. I know you use ponytails for them. Could you demonstrate how? I can't seem to picture it in my head.

They never last more than a day. I pull them off that night if I use them so they don't try eating the hair tie. I use the little clear plastic ones for braids. They are small and don't tangle or break feathers. Regular ponytail ties are too big.

I dont have any ties to show how at moment.

I do have some old pictures of young pullets that might help. Just treat them like you're putting a ponytail on a Barbie.

Thank you both, from me and the chicks! :bow It doesn't look half as hard as I was picturing it, now that I can visualize it. Also, it makes them look remarkably cute! The new silkie fashion!

You could always let them have access to water and dirt so they can become hairdressers. She billed the water out of the water cup then rubbed in the mud. Feet were clean, only face and crest was done.
