Are you adding to your flock this spring?

Actually hoping hatchling Bleu is a roo for Blue Crevecoeur mama Marge to mate. Developing buyers locally, and have two already. Then it's the feed store for any I can't sell--they have folks who'll take them as freebies to add to their flocks.
I also have hopes to sell a few. My roo is a EE and I have 2 EE pullets as well.

Howdy "neighbor"! (Guessing you are somewhere around I-10, east of Tallahassee - I'm at least as far west of that landmark, and North besides) Nice video, beautiful breed. I lift a cup of coffee to you.

Cheers! We're in St. Augustine on the intercostal, so way east. Our starter chicks are from Greenfire Farms, not too far from you. I'm hatching chicks from those now. Thanks! Love Crevecoeurs because they're critically endangered, exotic, and super sweet.

I want more soooo bad! Sadly I live in the city and already have 4 so I don't know how much sense it would make to get like 2-4 and integrate them. The ones I have I got this spring, and I'll get more when they slow down laying, but that will probably be in a while:hit

I’ve just placed an order for 30 chicks, beginning of May. Super excited. Trying out a bunch of different breeds we’ve never had before, and we will be hatching our own Polish and silkies also. Anyone else have chicken math excitement going on?
I also ordered more chicks from MPC and I plan to hatch silkies, Polish and some fun mixes this spring.

We are adding 6 to our flock in April! Just placed the order yesterday.

We have 8 already (1 silkie roo, 1 silkie, 1 leghorn, 1 buff orpington, and 4 black australorps) and I was considering the following options:

1) Pick up 2 from Tractor Supply chick days. This ended badly last year, and is how we have a silkie roo. We bought 4 chickens and were told they were all female leghorns. They were so wrong! Only ONE was of the 4!
2) Buy an incubator and hatch our own. I was nervous we'd end up with a roo or two, and I don't feel confident in my ability to sex chicks so just wanted to avoid that situation all together.
3) Expand to waterfowl instead--I like this idea, but the neighbors already put up with the roo and I was worried a honking goose would send them over the edge. Maybe someday!
4) Bite the bullet and order the 6 chick minimum from McMurrary with a spring delivery. I say bite the bullet because it means we have to expand our run--at a minimum--and maybe expand the coop. I'm going to see how they do before we do that, but we will rebuild and expand the run before they are integrated.

We landed on 3 blue cochins and 3 partridge cochins. I feel a little "basic" because cochins are such an obvious choice for a backyard flock, but our current hens are so low key, get along really well, and I didn't want to shake it up. Cochins seemed the most reliable addition for personality fit, especially since we don't free range except in limited bursts around sunset.

Love hearing your stories about expansion! I never thought I'd have FOURTEEN chickens but I've caught the bug!

Currently have 3 I got last year, 1 BO, 1 WTB, 1 perfect light braham, lol. Placed my order today with California hatchery for March delivery. 1 EE, 1 GQ, 1 BCM, I'm sooooo excited.
