The ones I have wouldnt be pure cayuga ducks but they look like the blue cayugas! I got them by crossing my Black Cayuga with my Silver Swedish. Next hatch I hope to get more of them they are so pretty. Waiting for one of them to lay eggs to see what color turns out!
Maybe a vet could help it but that leg has always been so stiff and unable to bend from its curled position. I tried working with it when he hatched but I felt I was only going to break his leg if I tried stretching it out. So I just accepted that he was like this and made accommodations for...
This little guy is two months old and is trying to get all of his feathers in.
I saw that he has this random patch of brown like a khaki campbell and nowhere else. Anyone else have a duck with this type of color pattern?
He is a Khaki Campell (mom)/ Black Cayuga (dad) cross.
He was also hatched...
I also have some duck houses that are connected to a run that is completely covered in hardwire cloth. I would also bury some hardwire cloth along the fenceline for diggers. Havent had anything get in so far and my ducks always have the choice to be in the coop or in that run. I dont close them...
Great! Looks like he is making good progress! Im guessing there are no plugs on your incubator to remove? Hopefully those two holes are enough. He is the only one in there so it should hopefully be enough. Duckling sounds are a great idea and would encourage him!
He can still get out! He pipped and is getting air so he will be fine he will be resting for a long time and absorbing the rest of his yolk at this time. You might need to help him out though in the end but give him time. I know with my wrong end pipper I had to help her out (looked exactly like...
Yeah some can be crazy early! That can be due to the incubator temperature being too high. They should externally pip 27th or 28th and then from there they may zip out that day or the next. One of mine even took three days till she was ready.
Haha ok well if you set late like me youll be good. Hope lil one hatches!!! Some of mine didnt move very much but still hatched so try not to worry too much about that.
I think it will be fine if they are set a little early. Others have lockdowned before a whole day early and hatch still went well. On day one did you set your eggs early in the morning or later that day? If early go early if later they should be good till after work. I had set mine 2pm day one...
Lockdown is day 25. I laid out a warm wet washcloth under my eggs when I put them into lockdown. Helps with grip, cleanup, and to keep humidity up.
Keep us updated!
Just hatched 12 ducklings last week in the incubator. All these babies are mixed ducklings of my own flock. I candled pretty much everyday. So as long as your hands are clean and you’re gentle I’d say it’s ok. Hatch day will be here before you know it! I want to see some pictures of the lil...
Here’s an update on that last duckling she made it out! I was worried about her but she seems to be doing just fine. She’s so tiny compared to everyone else. Also here is her sleeping in my hand :love
