My 1.5 year old hen is acting sick. She's still eating but is laying around and won't go up in the coop. I found her on her side last night and put her up. She comes down out of the coop and can walk but seems a little weezy on her feet. She has minimal discharge out her vent, not feeling an egg...
I have a hen that is broody. This is the 3rd time she has went broody. I just put 4 day old chick's under her and she at first looked a little startled and pecked at one chick but has now let all of them get under her. I have been watching her for about 30 minutes and she seems content and just...
I have caught the other two hens several times laying in the nesting box. This one never goes in the nesting box. Its not exact science but we only get two eggs a day out of three hens.
The other hens all lay in the neasting boxes. We have adequate ventilation. I've had the ceramic eggs in the boxes as well. This girl just isn't laying.
This girl is the hen that is not afraid to be by herself. She will wonder off and she is also the hen that will go roost in the coop in the middle of the day. No eggs! I guess I just need to be patient with her 😔
This girl is also at the bottom of the pecking order. She is also a bit skittish. Both of our other Orpingtons are still laying daily even in our Kansas winter conditions. We have 8 hens in the brooder that are 9 weeks old and will be moving to the coop in the next week or so and I'm afraid that...
I have one Buff Orpington hen who is 9 months old that is not laying eggs. All the other hens we have that are the same age are laying. Is it possible that a hen will just not lay eggs?
The injury happened about 4 or 5 hours ago. She gets oyster shell in her feed and has never laid a soft shell egg before. She's lethargic and just not herself. The car grazed her and she went and hid under a bush for awhile and then rejoined the flock but isn't quite all there.
I brought her inside and wrapped her in a towel in a box and put her in the bathroom where it is quiet and warm. She drank some sugar water and seems to be resting okay. I will take her to the vet tomorrow. I hope she does not have any internal injuries.
My hen was grazed by a car. She has a few ruffled feathers but no visible damage. She is just acting a little dazed and confused. A little slow if you will. She can walk and flap her wings. She even went in the coop to roost tonight. Has anyone encountered this?
