Not sure what initially happened but the other birds must have pecked her. That was almost a week ago and about 3 days ago her comb and around her eyes started swelling. I'm noticing that she's scratching the area. What can I do to help? I've cleaned it with wound spray and put antibiotic...
I just found one of my chickens laying on our poop board with an intact egg, but she will not walk or stand and there was a egg yolk substance mixed with her poop. The only antibiotic I have on hand are doxycycline and la-200. Will the la-200 do anything to help her?
We definitely have tapeworms. I will include the picture, but we also had depluming mites. I treated the birds with ivermectin pour on. Both recommended meds for tapeworms have ivermectin in them. Is it safe to orally dose with ivermectin a week after the pour on? I found a dewormer with that...
I've now treated with ivermectin once and permethrin dusted the birds once along with spraying down the entire coop. I thought red mites. But now am thinking depluming. I have multiple birds with missing feathers, broken feathers and bald spots. What's odd is that one of my 2 roosters who has...
Can anyone tell me what kind of mites these are? I'm guess red mites since I initially found a lot of them on my feed storage container before seeing any on the birds. I am seeing a few on the birds during the day though too.
I can't find elector psp for sale in smaller quantities and have...
I have a bird who is declining quickly. I had another bird euthanized and her necropsy showed the main cause of death to be coccia. Now her sister is becoming lame and barely eating or drinking. I know the water dowing but can I give directly since she is barely drinking?
These 2 were listed as cream legbars, but they seem excessively small for full size ones? My guess would be about a week old, but they are tiny! I don't think cream legbars come in bantam, do they?
I have a 15 week legbar who flew into a door frame 2 weeks ago. I didn't notice any issue until the next day where her one wing was drooping slightly. I tried wrapping it, but that made her frantic and she was otherwise acting normal, other than not using that wing. I decided to let her be. Fast...
Anyone successfully get a broody to take 7 week old chicks? My wyandotte just went broody a few days ago. I don't want to get any new chicks or eggs. I have 4 chicks in a brooder still that are about 7 weeks old. Any chance she'd take them? Do I slip them under her at ight and then check on them...
We have a pop-up tent for some out door time during the day. The 6 chicks (4 ish weeks old) are still in my brooder in my porch. We put the 6 out there around 11:30. My toddler has been sick so I didn't think anything of it. I went out at 5:30 and two chicks were dead. I'm assuming heat stroke...
Currently using pine, but it is so messy and smelly and makes me sneeze. I was thinking about pine pellets but worried they would eat it (they are about 3 weeks old). Anyone use alfalfa pellets? To my knowledge, that is safe to ingest.
I think this the right place to put this. Our bachelor pad is done, but my question is: what is the minimum amount of roos I can keep there? We currently have 3. The most aggressive of the 3 is being rehomed tomorrow. That leaves only 2 birds. Is that ok? I know chickens are suppose to be 3...
Not in the coop or the run, but outside the run in an area that my girls frequent when free ranging. I treated with amdro ant block on Monday. I have keep the chickens in their run since I treated.
The ants are gone. Should I just shovel the residual bait to an area they don't go in? Hose it...
Wtf?!?! My 11 week old cockerel just attacked my 14 week old pullet. He repeatedly pecked her head and flipped her over. Pretty sure I can see her skull in one spot. Cleaned with povidone, vetricyn and packed with bacitracin. Going to isolate her for at least the night. Anything else I should do?
For anyone giving advice who hasn't been following my mess:
My flock is of 11 adult hens, 9 mixed juveniles (10-14 weeks) and 3 chicks (6 weeks). We have not added any new adult birds since the middle of February. We have had off and on issues with roundworms.
The beginning of April one of my...
The chicken that was wheezing is seemingly better, but now a different one is constantly wheezing.
Background info is we just treated for a heavy load of round worms last week. No respiratory symptoms prior. The bird now wheezing has always been sneezy. What antibiotic would be good for this...
We just finished 5 days of fenbendazole for a large load of round worms. I also have 3 chickens with mild bumble foot. Now, I have a chicken wheezing 😭
Could I have caused her to accidentally aspirate the fenbendazole? You can hear it at the 50 second mark or so. She was sneezing a bunch...
I was told these 3 are girls. The one has a lighter head than the other 2. Please tell me it is just a lighter variation and not a boy. They are almost 6 weeks old.
I'm on day 3 of fenbendazole. These are round worms right? Initially they looked round but now a few look flat (maybe dehydrated) or are they tapeworms?
