Can anyone tell me what kind of mites these are? I'm guess red mites since I initially found a lot of them on my feed storage container before seeing any on the birds. I am seeing a few on the birds during the day though too.
I can't find elector psp for sale in smaller quantities and have dusted and sprayed the nest boxes with permethrin and sprayed all areas of the coop with permethrin spray. I treated the birds with ivermectin pour on yesterday and plan on dusting them this weekend as well. Any other advice?

Clean out your coop and treat it along with the birds in 7 day intervals with the Peremthrin.
Make sure to treat roosting bars, crevices, etc., where bugs can hide.

Ivermectin should be effective against mites, so if you are doing that too, then I would only lightly dust the birds with the Permethrin.

This may help you i.d. your bug

That was one of my questions. So treat the coop every 7 days? Should I empty the nest boxes every 7 days as well? I left permethrin powder in the nest boxes under the bedding.

Mites hatch every 5-7 days. Lice hatch every 10 days. So try and count the legs with a magnifying glass, and identify which one it is. Most products like permethrin garden dust and sprays will get the live bugs, but not the eggs. So treatment again before the new hatched ones can reproduce is important. Just guessing, but the second pic looks more like lice. Lice leave small clumps of white to grey eggs at the base of feathers. Mites leave brown specks on the skin. Here is another good link to read:

Would the lice be off the birds? The bugs I found were all over my feed storage container.

Just try to identify them with the pictures. Lice are normally on chickens, while mites can be found on chickens and in the coop. Look up weevils also, since those can be found in chickens feed and scratch grains bags in summertime. How large are they? I have found weevils in freshly bought feed. Here is a good picture:

Not weevils as the bugs were not in the feed at all just on the back and bottom of the storage container. Not lice then if they are only on the birds. I've had a few of these bugs on eggs, in the back of the nest boxes and on the feed storage container. What's odd is I haven't seen any on the roost bars.

Yes, try to empty the nesting boxes and do a clean up every 7 days or so to help break the cycle. Use minimal bedding during this time so it's easier to clean out.
