    Respiratory or eye infection?

One of my hens hatched 7 babies. They're 7 weeks now, the rest are completely healthy. Yes, will do!! She's taking water perfectly fine on her own, but needs to be encouraged to eat. We're adding water to some chick feed to get her to eat right now, but she's not taking much. She's inside the...

    Respiratory or eye infection?

We just checked, inside the beak seems completely normal. Other than the eyes being the way they are, nothing else seems wrong. :( She can sort of open one of her eyes now but it's watery? I'm starting to think it is fowl pox just bc she's kinda scabby looking. I had a different hen get it a few...

    Respiratory or eye infection?

Sorry for the late reply! I couldn't get clear pictures until this morning. :( Whatever's going on with the first eye seems to have spread to the other eye, so I'm not sure if it's anything to do with being pecked on. 😭 I'm just outside of Houston, TX so there's definitely a lot of mosquitoes...

    Respiratory or eye infection?

Hello everyone!! I have six two-month old chicks. They're, for the most part fine. This afternoon however, one of them has a eye that is completely swollen shut (see attached pic). The others are acting normally, eating and drinking and running around. This little one is a little lethargic but...

    Silkie gender?

I agree. 😫 But could you tell me what you looked that made you think rooster? The comb is what I was looking at, but I'd like to know for future reference. :) And the tail feathers are longer in some areas. Is that right or am I just looking at the wrong places?

    Silkie gender?

Hello!! I've posted this before when my silkie was about six weeks, but it's been a few more weeks now and I'm wondering if anyone can identify it's gender. It's about 11-12 weeks, so I'm not sure if I should wait longer? I'm still feeling rooster, but I'm no expert, so I would appreciate...

    Help determining breed (and gender?)

Hello! I'm having trouble determining the breed of one of my eight week old chicks. :,) Based on hours of research, I believe she's a female silver penciled cochin, maybe mixed at the very least, but I'm honestly not 100% on that. Any input? If needed, I can get better pictures of her, I just...

    Help determining silkie gender

Hello! I recently received a few chicks, one being a silkie. S/he is just over six weeks old. I have looked at post after post, picture after picture trying to determine if I have a hen or rooster and I can't for the life of me figure it out. :,) Does anyone have an idea? I'm getting major...

Log fell on hen, no physical trauma but behaving strange

Long story: I have looked everywhere and have done what I can, but I'm still very concerned. On April 3rd, i rolled a log, and my hen ran under before I could stop it. I should have checked before doing so, and i feel so guilty about it. :( It was a small, thin log, but it was still pretty...
