They’ve been out free ranging for several days, so there’s no telling what they may have gotten into. I also have some younger barred rocks, so between them and these feisty red heads, there’s no telling!
I have not added any new birds. It is so tight it was hard to open much. I did exactly what you said. Flushed with saline and coated with Neosporin. It isn’t fevered feeling and it doesn’t smell infected. I tried to lightly squeeze to see if any puss come out but none did. She was drinking and...
Hen with a very swollen eye! Any ideas what could be the cause and/or treatment? She does have a spot on the back of her comb that looks like she could have been pecked
That’s what I told my friend who has them. She was thinking possibly splash but didn’t look like any pictures I could find and not colored like my splash hens! Thanks!
Hey. I have the opportunity to get one of these boys to go with my ameracauna splash and blue hens and hopefully have more splashes, but it’s so easy to have people post as pure Ameracaunas when they’re actually Easter eggers so I was hoping I could get some second opinions?
I have someone wanting to trade a lavender ameraucana and a few laying hens and a splash maran for one of my ameraucana splashes. I am not particularly needing to get rid of one, but my kids sell eggs and I wouldn’t mind having more laying hens. I was wondering if you all could offer some...
I have some splash hens that I think are beautiful but their splash is not nearly this dark. Is there a way to darken the splashes? I have splash black and blue hens and believe I have a blue rooster I am going to be able to purchase 🤞🏼 The farm also has a black roo, but I’d like to focus more...
I have blue, black and splash ameraucana hens. Looking to get a roo and found someone close with a black and a blue one available. What offspring would they produce? What’s the possible outcomes?
Thank you! I decided to put our dog kennel in there and plan to move them after they’re sleeping. I put them all in the nesting box with her and she took them back under her, so I think she’ll do fine in the enclosure. We were out of town when they started hatching. Next time I will move them...
Just had a Hen hatch some babies out yesterday. I setup a nesting box for her on the ground but she has moved into her box that up off the ground and left her chicks on the ground. She still ruffles up when you try to mess with them. We live in Florida so it’s 80’s at night, 90’s during the day...
We live in balmy, hot, humid florida. Our pens are under shade trees. We let them out to find their favorite spots and they do fine. Animals are so adaptable.
I agree. We love our welsummers and actually just received a young cockerel we ordered. I love egg color so in our flock we have welsummers & ameracaunas for their egg colors and then Rhode Island reds for their consistency. We also have a golden legbar we were gifted and she’s a nice layer. We...
