    Crook old chook

The feed is usually 15-16% protein pellets and they do get to free range a fair bit. It does feel like the latest batch of feathers have taken a long time to come it but I can’t say I timed it. Will add some fish to the diet and just let whatever happens happen. Still enthusiastic about treats...

    Crook old chook

So I’ve got an old hen, at least 8. Trying to help for the kids sake as she’s been a freeloader on the egg front for a while now. She’s been looking like this and just being a bit slow in general. Lost 1/3 of her weight in the last 3 months (2.8kgs down to 2kgs). Kept her in over night last...

    Rubbery meat thing

Hey does anyone know what this might be? Found it in the nesting box this arvo, feels rubbery but looks kind of meaty. 5 hens from 2yrs old to 8ish, no rooster. Had 3 eggs today. Let me know if there is any more info I could provide that can help someone figure it out.

Appreciate the help

Was away for a week and have noticed these in poop 2 days in a row now. Not in every pile, only 2 that I’ve seen. Everyone seems happy, healthy, eating and drinking. Anyone got any idea what in earth they are?

Hi all, Got an 18month old Maren who we noticed had a bleeding foot, unrelated as she had just pulled a feather higher up her leg. But when we picked her up for a closer look noticed the foot pad was swollen and had the black spot, looking around here it seems to be bumble foot? We have soaked...

    Bare butt maran

Hi all, Came home to one of the chooks looking a little immodest and I’m not sure of the cause. No signs of discharge or mites that I could see. Layer pellets available 24/7 with occasional kitchen scraps. Seems to be eating and drinking normally, any ideas? Usually in the run until someone...
