Ahhh! Thanks for the link! What you said makes a lot of sense. This is such a learning curve! There is so much to learn about these babies and yes, I am loving pretty much every minute of it (minus the cleaning and flies)!
Now that I am pass worrying they are sick. I guess it's time...
The first one looks like my Rhode Island Red but I don't know the gender I am pretty new at this too. My chicks are a week or two younger than yours and I am guessing you have a girl there. Bc one of my baby has a much larger crown and he is only 4 weeks old.
I would love to know when you...

Hey Nance! Just wondering what gender your RIRs turned out to be? I just got 4 RIR chicks and they all look like boys to me!!! Is it true that even girls can have large and pink comb? Thanksss!

Hi PunkinPeep! When you say the medicated feed will do them no good after this do you mean it just won't be useful to them or do you mean it will actually be bad for them?
My chicks are also about 4 weeks old and have been outside for 2 weeks, I am not 100% sure they are pooping...
LOL. that's what everyone is telling me!! that the one in the front is gonna be a roo for sure.
i am really just hoping the other two with the same kind of tail don't all turn out to be boys. that would give me 3 boys and only 1 girl!!!
Hi everyone! Check out my babies, they are about 4 weeks old now. I was wondering if anyone can help me sex them. I live in a city and I would only be able to keep girls but the farm I got my chicks from only sells them straight run.
So I ended up getting four, praying I would end up with at...
So I decided that it's just the lining and didn't end up going to the feed store for meds :fl
They all seem fine and still active today and I haven't found any more poop that looks like that. sigh. little things about these babies that just makes me sooo worried all the time. i am sure...
Omg, I am so worried. I think my of my baby might be pooping blood! I am a first time chicken owner and I am so lost and worried right now.
My babies are around 4 weeks old (I got them two weeks ago). They all seem healthy and active and eating lots but I woke up to see this this morning:
I...
I noticed some black spots on the crowns of some of my chicks, they are just over 3 weeks old. Should I be worried?
Chick 1
Chick 2
While we are at it. Can anyone tell if they are boys or girls? Or is it still too early?
Thanks!!!
Very interesting thread!
I was just wondering this morning about how to interact with my chicks. I am a new mama and my chicks are only 3 weeks old. They don't seem to want to play with me they are just busy doing what chickens do all day. So how do you play with your chicks?
I think my 3 week olds are doing that occasionally. I thought it might be them eating weird stuff while free-ranging but they all still active and eating so I hasn't worried too much.
If anyone who knows can weight in, it would be appreciated.

LOL. That's too funny. I had a similar discussion with a friend not too long. He said he would never eat any eggs from my chickens (my chicks are actually too young to be producing yet), not now not ever, because the eggs won't be refrigerated the second they come out of the chickens...
