I have 2 incubators going. One is brand new and the other is borrowed from a fellow homesteader.
I’m having issues with the humidity levels. They remain high no matter what I do, and drop too low if no water at all. Also, one is in the 70s and the other is in high 50s/low 60s. Same room, same...
I have 2 lavender Orpington roos for my 20 something flock of hens. Curious what happens if you breed the lavender Orpington rooster with Blue Australorp hen.
Also, has anyone bred lav Orpington roo with salmon faverolle hen?
A beloved hen seemed to have been attacked by an aggressive teenage rooster.
How do I know if she will bounce back or if need to release her suffering?
So true! As soon as it’s dawn, they want out! Sometimes will leave door closed until 8am to encourage them to lay eggs in boxes before jetting out for the day, but alas- no luck so far! They just want out right meow!

Aside from differences in genetic line origins, what are the main differences in characteristics between sapphire gems and blue star chickens? How about blue Australorpes or lavender Orpingtons?
Pros/cons between heritage breeds and sex links?
We have dual purpose birds in a Year round...
This is my first time w/ chickens and I have 20 week old golden comet pullets who are probably close to laying. That being said, I recently added 1 year old black Australorpes, but they have not been laying since their arrival about a week ago. What is going on? They sleep in coop at night and...
I hope everyone is doing well. Have a few updates from Hawaii!
Below is sonic, the wild chick I rescued just a few hours old. She’s now all grown up and still sweet as ever.
Here are some of my pullets turned roosters Tails and Captain Coconuts (aka Captain Flare).
Added some one year old...
