Do you think that having eggs out in the 100 degree heat all day will be good still? They are fresh just laid and were sitting in a bucket waiting to go inside for 8 hrs.
Thanks I looked at them and I don't see any mite or lice and I can't pull the feathers out so I think molting they are all still laying eggs. A few weeks ago I was getting 10 eggs a day out of 35-40 hens for about 2 weeks and now we are back to normal. The weather has been crazy here one min...
I had a guinea sitting on ~22 eggs in the wood pile. Everything was going good up until the last week ( they would have hatched this week). She started leaving the eggs for a few hours and hanging out with the other 3 guineas. Then she just came back and stayed. I looked at the nest and...
Someone bought 3 guinea keets yesterday they are 6 weeks old. We forgot to tell him to keep them locked up. He had a 4 ft fence and they flew over into the woods. Unfortunately I just cut there winds the night b/f. They were raised with chickens and he has a few plus 4 of my chickens. Also...
we are going to be using round up on some of the weeds around the fence line it will not be used around the chickens but they free range. How long would you keep them locked up after spraying?
How long is the laying season? My guinea used to lay there eggs in the nesters with the chickens and I did find a nest out in the field 3 weeks ago but not eggs since.
If it comes down to poison I can keep the dogs away and the chickens locked up but the Guinea's will not be happy at all. And how would I keep the mouse out that ate the poison?

They do get some mice. I have stray cats that I see off/on not sure if they go in the barn or not. I like the idea of the live trap. Were would you find one?
I'm over ran by mice in the barn with the chicken. What to do? I can't put poison out b/c the chickens are free range and I have dogs. The mouse traps the just work. I like the sticky traps but I don't want the chickens to get it on them plus the barn is very dusty.
I got lucky with the adults on having 2 pairs. I got them @ 3 weeks. I want to keep another female and I'm hoping the pied is a female. Guess I will just have to wait. Just put the next batch in.
I found a guinea nest under the wood pile. I don't have much predators so that's not a issue. She is up to 9 eggs when will she start sitting? The nest is also in the mud since we are having lots of storms.
