    All Hens killed by Dog

The cats and dogs referenced in my answer referred to MY cats and dogs attacked by someone else's dog. Nothing can be done there but contact the owners of the aforementioned dog.

    All Hens killed by Dog

Pretty much the same here. Our leash laws state any animal attacking livestock, except dogs and cats, can be shot. I had a raccoon problem with my chickens a couple years ago and I would trap and shoot them. I've not seen a raccoon for some time now. Seems the message got out.

I wouldn't go alone. Mr. Glock is always by my side.

    All Hens killed by Dog

Leash laws here state that any dog attacking livestock or people - except cats or dogs - may be summarily put down by the property owner. I carry at all times on my property and response time is short.

Checking-In On Peeps - Post Here To Say Hello!

Tending my girls, and now it's mowing season so starting to get busy. Now, if only Nugget and the rest of the ladies will get busy, as well. 😉 Gotta start earning those treats!

    Elongated egg...Is this normal?

ALL of my birds avoid the oyster shells, even when mixed with their feed. They're starting to collect at the base of the feeder. When sprinkled on the ground they simply get pounded into the dirt.

Chicken behavior can be side splitting hilarious

I couldn't agree more. I'm a bit of a self-described misanthrope, so my chickens are more welcome than most people.

Chicken behavior can be side splitting hilarious

What a wonderful idea. I have never thought of that.

Do you free range your chickens?

I don't know where you live, but the leash laws here provide for terminating dogs that attack livestock and people, excepting dogs and cats. I've got 'coon tails hanging all over my coop, too!

Do you free range your chickens?

I have 14 acres, 10 wooded. Living in the woods, unfortunately my flock (12 hens, a duck, and a rooster.) must be kept penned and cooped. The pen/run is covered. That helps with the predators.

    My neighbor won’t stop complaining

LOL! I worked as an airline refueler for 35 years. Rest assured, even roosters aren't that loud.

    Rooster behavior

I booted mine a few times. He soon learned to jump back. One day he put a spur to me, so I shot him on the spot. This behavior won't stop. I'm 6' 4", 240 lbs. If he doesn't care about me, he won't care about a small child.

    Well, he's toast now

"Feathered ass." LMAO 🤣 I had a similar roo. He'd come after me but just a bump. My second roo, Cogburn, would often block him out (Love that bird). One day he got through and put a spur to me. I shot him (I carry on property.), threw him in the creek and he sailed away. Cogburn is awesome...

May I have opinions on these Tractor Supply coops?

I, too, live in the country. Rest assured, you'll have predators aplenty once your birds show up. Racoons are bad here, raptors not so much as we live in the woods -- owls, though.

Comment by 'Squidward' in article 'Herbs, Flowers, and Weeds for Chickens'

I have a surfeit of Jewelweed around my place. I can't seem to find a definitive answer concerning the consumption of the leaves by my chickens. I know they like the seeds. Thanks in advance.
