I have a hen that I have been treating for about three weeks for what I believe is Egg Yolk Peritonitis. We have a farm several miles from us that is a group home for special needs adults. They raise a few hens for eggs and this is one of their chickens.
The administrator contacted me and...
I raised both of them together from little babies. Hermaphrodite. Wow that would be interesting. LOL. So how would I go about testing that theory? Take them to a vet? Would the DNA feather sexing test work to test for that?
Sometimes he does a victory lap around the pool with wings spread and lots of honking after. BUT sometimes he mates her head and not her backside. So I'm just not sure if it's a dominance thing or actual mating. I have actually literally SEEN an egg come out of BOTH of them so now I am fairly...
Can you help me with these two?? I believe the white is an Embden female but not sure about the other one. The toulouse looking one mates with the white one but i have never seen a "noodle". And yesterday they both laid an egg but according to this photo one of the eggs is fertile.
So now I...
Yes both of these eggs are from yesterday, one in the morning and the other in the afternoon.
How do I find that thread? I would love to share the photo there!
The Toulouse is the one I thought was a gander, and the Emden is the female.
Actually, now I know BOTH are female but still I have fertile eggs.
I guess I have to take them to the vet to have them vent sexed. :/
How is it that I have two female geese, and fertile eggs with NO Male. I am in Texas and have NEVER seen a wild goose around here at all. I am so stumped!!
Well, now I now why he was sitting. He laid an egg!!
Apparently I have two females!! UGH! LOL
So, now here is my other question.
Do either of these eggs appear fertile to you??
The top egg LOOKS fertile to me. If the one I thought was a gander has been mating the other goose daily and...
I have a pair of geese. The Female is an Embden, and the male is a Toulouse/Sebastapol cross.
Squishy my female has been laying since late december. Yesterday we cleaned out the goose nest because it was starting to smell pretty bad. :( There were almost 30 eggs in the nest. Most of them were...
I posted yesterday on the guinea board but got no responses so I am posting here:
I have a female Guinea that is approximately four months old that is very sick. I need some help to figure out what it could be and how to treat it.
Approximately a week ago I went into the guinea pen and...

Approximately a week ago I went into the guinea pen and found her very weak and unable to stand. When I picked her up I noticed that she was...
Fourteen weeks old and still very small but is finally starting to grow a few more feathers. I'm just being super patient and giving her time to do what she needs to. She is still eating and drinking just fine and seems perfectly normal except for size and feathering. :)
Unfortunately I have already given the Wazine to them today. I guess what I need to know now is if It's ok to give them the Valbazen tomorrow or the next day instead of waiting the ten days after wazine to give it to them.
I have approximately forty barnyard chickens. They are all roughly 9 months to two years old and have never been wormed. Recently we have had a HUGE drop in egg production. I went from nearly two dozen eggs a day down to just getting 8. Four days ago one of my lakenvelder hens had a messy bottom...
These four chicks are twelve weeks old. As you can see there is one that is definitely smaller than the rest and has hardly any feathers. It eats fine, drinks fine, and poops fine but I noticed today that it's belly is swollen and seems bruised or black colored. I am not sure what to do with it...
We were planning on making their coop space where they had three feet of roost space per bird and the run would be ten square feet per bird. I plan on planting various bushes and sago palms etc inside the run area for natural plant material for them to hide in if they need to. Does this sound...
I have about sixty keets I have hatched out this year from purchased eggs. I am trying to start my own breeding program for next year to sell keets.
Our original plan was to build a LARGE pen and aviary and NOT free range these birds at all. I have four adult guineas now and I have had to...
She totally was. LOL. She follows our dog everywhere around the yard. She is very happy now that she can walk and swim on her own.
