Hi everyone. I have had chickens for about 3 years now and other then predators we have done well. Everything is clean and the same. I have 8 chickens and a turkey. One of my Rhode Island Reds who is about 18 months old started to lose her feathers as if she was molting. I figured that's...
Thank you very much for your reply. I started her on the antibiotic today.
I hope she pulls out of this. She's a great, friendly, chicken and lays the biggest eggs!
My almost 1 year old Buff Orpington has been fine, full of energy. Yesterday I went to lock the coop and she was outside nested on the ground against the coop. I checked her for injuries, bugs, etc and she looked fine. The only thing I had noticed in the last few days was her feathers around...
Thank you all so much. "Ruby" our chicken is very social and we definitely will find her a friend. We only let her out when one of us in the yard with her. My 7-year old kept her company in the rain yesterday. He doesn't want another one to get hurt. NurseELB I would love to take yours off...

It is supposed to be a rough winter in the Pacific...
Thanks for the help. I will try the eggs, the softer smaller bites makes sense. She has started walking around now.
We have talked about putting her down, because we don't want her to suffer, but we don't want to do that too soon, if theres a chance she could come through this.
Unfortunately...
Our coop was attacked by a group of raccoons 3 days ago (my fault). One lost a lot of feathers and was dragged about 300 feet down semi rough terrain.
We found her and got rid of the raccoon. The Hen was still alive, we got her back to the coop and she seems to have flesh wounds that are not too...
