Hi guys! turnip is still doing good. she took a dirt bath earlier.
I came here to ask - because she doesnt move around alot there always seems to be a couple of flys near her.
Because her leg had fly strike before, im wondering what i can put on her to deter the flys from her.

Hi all, sorry i didnt update for a while.
Turnip is NOT dead! just a handful to take care of, so i dont get many chances to take photos.

He was a rescue along with his wife and his other (less serious) wife. Im wondering why he has this black ring around his eyes, its on both sides.

Hi guys! heres and update. I cuddle her everyday whenever she askes for it now.
Often, it starts with me in the yard looking at the other chickens or giving out treats, then she will run up and squish inbetween my legs/ankles

About 5 weeks, shes been chasing them away and pecking them lightly. But, i tried to grab one and she tried to attack me to protect them. What is weaning? What should i expect? My other hen hatched out babies but didnt let them go until they were fully grown

This is piper, shes and orpington. None of my hens are particularly friendly, they let me pet them but not if they have the chance to run away. Just a couple days ago i started picking her up and cuddling her. And she doesnt try to run away for about 15 minutes. But im worried she doesnt...
Shes doing fine now, i was going to let her free roam but one of our ducks was killed by and eagle so i put her back into her coop right away.
Moves around pretty fast for only one leg! i gave her a peice or watermelon rind and she really enjoyed it. She kept making the "foods here" noises...
We live in WA so it doesnt get too cold, i think someone mentioned fly strike and that could be it due to her leg having maggots but im unsure

Ok thanks. She actually really active for some reason, she ran around the whole yard faster than she was when she had 2 legs. Shes been jumping , flying, and doing the "chicken zoomies" thing.
I hope that means shes doing good, were giving her meds and egg yolks mixed in with her food to boost...
I will try to get pics, i dont really want to look at her leg because im kinda squimish and so far my mom and sister are the ones who looked
But ill try to get pics.
