I have 2 stations each of oyster and grit, but that's honestly just because I had the extra feeders and didn't want them floating around my storage room for now. I don't think my little flock really needs both a station inside their coop and out under their lean-to, but I also don't think it hurts.
Had been planning on getting more ladies to balance out our flock ratio but have decided to downsize the number of males instead at this time due to other circumstances. We're open to selling them or even trading them for feed, supplies or hens. They're all sweet boys, mostly just don't have...
There's honestly a lot of things I wish I could say this week, they could mostly be summed up as one long frustrated scream into the void though. It has just been a week.
Colorado is as well. I figured that out after the neighbors cows were all over our property and my partner was just like "yep, they can do that unless we fence it off."
Size certainly never stopped my bantam cochin from trying, he certainly um... made it into position so to speak, but I don't honestly know if he ever succeeded with fertilizing our normal size hens as we never let any of them sit on any clutches nor did we ever try to incubate anything.
Final most recent pictures of these 3. These are the most docile chill guys. Not the best lighting because unfortunately while they are chill, my one turken roo who has to go is NOT and about the only time I can snag someone for a photo op is around bedtime. His brother on the other hand we are...
Thank you! We honesty adore both of our Turkens, they're so fun! And honestly, I find both of ours so pretty despite their silly bald necks!
Thank you! Its disappointing that its most likely a cockerel as we bought both our turkens as supposed pullets, and I already suspected the other one isn't.
My poor Turken Thelma Blue is in the middle of a debate between two of my friends over what her color/patterning would be called. I'm just curious what most people here would consider her to be (plus it would be nice to settle the off again on again argument about her feathers). I mostly just...
This one got string on her foot, somehow. Took the chance while she was inside getting fixed up to get some updated photos showing their new lovely black spots that have been coming in. She's fine, it was caught before it became a problem thankfully.
Ouch!! I can just imagine someone not even waiting for an answer and actually trying to too. Just ooph.
We lost our last flock to the neighbors across the street's dogs. They haven't had a dog now in like a year and some change, we finally got chickens and ducks again. What do I see when I look...
I'm not planning on getting a switch 2 anytime soon. I actually love my switch, but I can't really justify the cost of a new game system right now and if we were going to get one, I would honestly want to get my partner an Xbox X or S before a new switch since I'm the only one who uses the...
I never would have thought of trying to incubate an egg in a bra. If these posts happen fairly oftenish, how often are they successful? Personally I'm so clumsy I would be immediately doomed at that project.
Did you get ahold of the hatchery yet to let them know they not only sent you 7 ducks after you cancelled your order of 3, but that six of them were dead? If so, what did they say??
It almost looks like how my little black swedish duck did as a baby. My anconas very pretty speckled and yellow from the get go. If that's a possible parent, it might be that.
I've had doctors do that before, but never a dentist.
It's definitely my xray because the way the office is set up, standard dental xrays are just done in the exam room, panoramic in the room down the hall and it all just sends to the computer right away. There's not really a lot of time to...
Exactly why I'm so confused about it. Also I've been living with my partner and his senior parents since 2020 as well. Even if I forgot somehow, one of them definitely would have remembered.
I found my copy of my x-ray I had when my son was about 6 months old, so I can definitely confirm I...
Wish I could say I knew what happened to my upper wisdom teeth. I know I had them in 2021 when I was still seeing my last dentist, but according to my newest x-ray from my new dentist they were extracted at some point, and I have literally no recollection of ever having anything extracted in my...
The animal husbandry subreddits are horrid. I like Reddit for video game questions, I often find people who've found and fixed the same weird glitches I've gotten stuck on, but the animal subreddits are the absolute worst. They give the worst advice, and it results in so many sad outcomes. I've...
Out of curiosity, does anyone know of any place in Colorado that sells sexed ducklings or even older ducks? I'm not opposed to ordering from a hatchery to ship under normal circumstances, but I'd like to support local if I can and we need just a few more ladies. I'd like to avoid having to pay a...
Outside animals we have just the 12 chickens and the 10 ducks, but we're currently looking for at least 5 more female ducks to add to the flock in the hope of getting a better ratio of drakes to hens.
Inside animals is a lot. We have 3 senior guinea pigs, 9 tarantulas, 4 toads, a frog, a...
