    Feathered and beyond!

Hi there, That is a beautiful view of the mountains. I bet it's a great place to wind down and enjoy the sunrise or sunset.

New to chickens from San Diego

Welcome, definitely some striking colors there and I love that coop set-up. Are you hoping to hatch for more or expand on breeds? Personally I've been aiming to get more egg colors. I'm hoping for an olive egger next year...depending on if my Black Maran does turn out to be a boy.

    Hello :)

I think the white silkie would be so handsome! I had a black silkie last year. I spent the first 3 weeks thinking he didn't have eyes due to his head feathers.

This had to be shown to my coworker, as her dog stacked them both earlier this evening.

How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

I got very excited when one of mine started laying again. She was the odd one out by holding out for the last month. Everyone else was popping them out.

Cup o' Joe and Tea Too

Yum! I had to go with tea today for a lower caffeine content...so far as I know anyway. I did get to try some caramel coffee concentrate yesterday. It was pretty tasty with some steamed milk. I'll try it as an iced version eventually.

    Crazy Chickens Daily (hopefully)

Where does the time go? Chickens sure do grow fast. It seems like only yesterday, that Franny was sitting on a clutch and now the baby is growing their adult feathers. I sent a pic to the person that I got the eggs from and she thinks that the new baby is a male. Personally I would have...

How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Technically yesterday for me, but I got 5. Put all of them in cartons for the "week" and had a total of 44 eggs over the last 11 days.

    Any Home Bakers Here?

It was actually really tasty. I took some taste tests during the assembly. The blackberry jam was a bit tart and the earl grey cream was a bit oversweet by themselves, but once every when together, Yumm!

Question of the Day - Sunday, February 8th, 2026

Nah, not really a sports kind of person. I do enjoy watching some of the commercials and half time shows. Especially anything to do with the Clydesdales. I do prefer the older one's over the newer AI versions though.

Winter Olympics are here! What are you watching?

I prefer the figure skating when I have time to watch it. I do get awfully jealous on how talented the skaters are. Though I know that they put A LOT of work into it.

    Crazy Chickens Daily (hopefully)

We had a VERY late christmas gift giving with my sister and our friend. Due to some scheduling difficulties, our Christmas tea party ended up happening in February. My sister got my a chicken keepsake album that I am currently filling out and deciding on the pictures I want to add.

    Any Home Bakers Here?

Very minimal "baking" for this recipe, but definitely cooking involved. I made a blackberry earl grey tart for my tea party this week. It involved a lot of standing over the stove and rechecking my recipe to monitor and translate "when it becomes thick and bubbly."

4 again: 2 blue from Willow and Rowan, 1 from Crown, and 1 from Gem. Fancy and Jedi are holdouts. Fancy especially, but she is my oldest.

He's a boxer, a brindle three legger to be precise.

How Stupid (Funny) is Your Dog (Pet)?

That movie was actually very helpful in trying to explain what it is to the General Public. When I tried to use the term Elizabethan collar, I just get blank stares in many cases.

Talking someone out of getting chickens

I just have to use caution in the colder seasons. I just make sure they have cover from the elements and enough food and water for at least three days. I am lucky enough to have family or friends who can check on them every three days to collect eggs and refill food and water buckets. I usually...

Talking someone out of getting chickens

Freezing rain built up too heavy on the tarp and between missing a support bar and previous joint damage from a windy day, it just collapsed. Luckily the run is normally just in use for when I'm not going to be home for a few days, otherwise they free range the yard and I shut them in the...
