The Case of the Mysteriously Vanishing Eggs...

Since a week or two one of my four chickens, a one and a half year-old Isa Brown hen, seems to be eating her eggs. At least I think she is. She displays her usual laying behaviour before she disappears into one of the nesting boxes. When I go check a little while later, there is no egg! Part of...

    Kilverm

One of my point-of-lay Silkie pullets has roundworms and I have bought Kilverm to treat her with. However, it doens't say on the package how many days I need to give her the medication. Does anyone have any experience with Kilverm? Thanks!!!

    Nesting rooster?

Myth or fact: water to "cure" broodiness?!?

My Silkie is very broody, so an acquaintance of mine suggested that I dip her bottom in some lukewarm water to instantly "cure" her of being broody. It seems a bit harsh to me and I doubt that it will work, but perhaps there is some truth to it after all? Who can advise me, please? Many thanks!

Baby chicks - when do they change colour?

My Silkie Daisy has hatched two Isa Brown eggs and is now a VERY proud and loving mum. I am wondering though, when does the yellow chick colour start to change, can anyone tell me please? Thank you!

    My hen eats her eggs!

One of my Isa Brown hens, Hazel, has started laying a few days ago, but she eats her eggs. Fair enough, they are after all her eggs, but it makes an awful sticky mess in the henhouse and adds quite a bit of time to my daily round of morning chores. Does anyone know if this is normal behaviour...

    Hello from Victoria

Just a note to say hello. I have been a chicken mum for the past eight weeks now and I love every minute of it. Well, almost every minute. I am not too keen on mucking out the henhouse in the pouring rain, but luckily in Victoria, Australia it doesn't rain all that often. I have two Isa Browns...
