You really need to get the bad egg out. I steam up my small bathroom and take the incubator in there, and move everyone out as quickly as possible. I'd get a ziplock bag and put it around the bad egg before touching it. It sounds like it is going to blow pretty soon. Good luck!
I know some...
My first rooster russel crow was a mean bird. I kept hoping he would improve but didn't. We processed him. Soon after one of my BO's went broody and hatched out 6 babies. Two were roosters. One was killed by a dog. The other Russel Junior (RJ) was a wonderful rooster. My two boys carried...
Our southern states has "save a chick" I'm not sure what's in it, but you had it to a gallon of water. It seems to perk up my worn out babies. I've also given mine scrambled eggs & yogurt. With the yogurt I try to get something without artifical color/sugars. It's usually a greek variety...
Sorry didn't me to come across too strong!
I've been told not to tag on other posts before and rather unkindly! Please let us know how your hatch goes and good luck!
In my opinion day 21 is too early to help. It is often 24-48 hrs. from pip to hatch. I forget what the humidity should be, maybe 65%. You can go to the hatching section and it will tell you. Good luck. Everything seems to be going right!
If you help to early you will have a lot of...
I have not experience with this, but have been told you want to splint the leg as soon as possible. something about the leg bones, etc. being more pliable. Wish I new more. Hopefully someone else will speak up. Good Luck!
THey are strong little guys. If you get him out without too much blood loss, I believe he will be fine. I'd try to remove a little more membrane this morning. If their isn't much blood I'd keep working until I had him out. If it starts bleeding badly, stop. Then give it 1/2 hr and start...
I have buffs and I'm pretty sure that isn't a roo. Don't know why she would be aggressive towards you. Maybe you can pick her up and carry her around everytime she does it and see if that helps. I carry my roos around alot and they know I'm the boss.
They will all have the spur pumps. At 4.5 weeks you should have an idea of who is a roo and who isn't by the comb & waddles. The boys will be larger & redder. Plus their legs are often thicker looking. If you post pictures I am sure plenty of people on here can help. I don't know much about...
I forgot to mention she was bad enough to be born with a blind eye. Infact, the one side of her face was deformed. She was two years old when a dog got into my yard and decimated my chickens.
I still miss her, even though, she took the extra care.
I had a buff orpington with a beak like that. She took some extra care but not too much. I never used pellets and I always used crumbles. I would give her, the treats separate to make sure she got some. She was very friendly and laid alot of eggs. In the winter, I would often give her warm...
