All I can suggest is writing a letter, not an email. Depending on how "urban" the property you are buying is, try to convince the city of the benefits of chickens as well as explaining what the chickens are being used for (4-h is an educational program). Also, if you only have 3-4 chickens, that...
This has happened to me several times in the past. I could never figure out why, but some reasons could be disease, lack of space, drafts, too cold/hot, or birth defects, even. Watch them every hour or so for a little while, make sure there are no signs of illness (runny nose/eyes, lack of...

I use these and they work great for me, though i don't know how easily ducklings...
Hi.
I am showing at the state fair and this is the first year I'm taking a serama chicken. But I dont know what "Class" to put him under. He's a Bantam roo over 1 yr old, but when I look under bantams the list of all the classes they do not have serama ( I didn't expect them to really.)...
I never said i could put nine pounds on a turkey in two weeks. I am asking how much he can gain in that time. I weighed him and he weighed 25 pounds. He gained 4 in one week. He free ranges too. He is not a heritage breed, though.
Thanks.. by pellets I mean purina turkey grower. As in, well, turkey food... I don't know whats not to get. But his food is 20% protein, which Is enough for turkeys..
I have a turkey i am showing at the fair (in 2 weeks) and he is several pounds under weight. He is 21 pounds and the minimum is 25, but ideally 30 lb is the best. He's 12 weeks ( give or take a few ) old and i am feeding him some cracked corn along with pellets. Any idea what he will gain in 2...
The fedex man came a while ago, and my over-friendly hampshire sheep whether decided to greet him. The fed ex man responded " A goat!! don't they head butt?" And back away very cautiously. XD
We had Seismic oil testing a few weeks ago, they didn't find anything, thank goodness. I don't want anyone tearing up my peoples' land for oil. I always think of what my native american ancestors would have done in a situation like this. If they had found something it would have ruined the land...
My Campbells Couldn't fly, and were not afraid of my dog, but my dog is a sheep dog and is supposed to herd and protect them. If they are brought up in your barn/yard and are fed and in a good safe enviroment with no stress they would have no need to leave and probably would not. Welsh Harlequin...
i would probably say a dog. Most other predators try to bite the neck. But could of been anything small too like weasel or mink. Fox or coyotes wouldn't have left the duck behind, and cats usually attack the head/neck, as well as raccoons.
Im really sorry. That JUST happened to me not 2 hours ago. Something killed all my call ducks except 1 and he's probably not going to make it ( his throat got ripped open) . All i did for him was use disinfectant and corn starch to stop the bleeding. If there is anything else that can be done...
i agree with the above poster that it's not a mallard, most likely an appleyard ( explains the spot on the head) or some sort of mix. For future referances also it is not okay to feed ducks of any age bread, but it is okay to feed them all purpose ( for ducks geese chickens turkeys) food as long...
