Wendy years ago I lived in Abilene, my wife is from Colorado City. In the seventies I caught rattlesnakes for the roundup in Sweetwater. Lots of old memories of that part of the State.
Wendy if you ever come West on a trip let me know. I would love to get some wild colored domestic rabbits started feral here at our place and I would buy a bunch of them.
Thanks, Ed

Incuview second hatch final report: Only eleven chicks survived the hatch. All the others were extremely big chicks and died before piping or shortly there after. I feel like the humidity was just too high and the chicks were too big. So I will keep less water in the incubator next round and...
We have a constant battle with prickly pear on our place. It will eventually take over if you do not kill it back. It also provides cover for rodents and snakes while sucking quite a bit of ground water. JMHO

Incuview Update 8/8/2015
Six chicks hatched. Seven chicks pipped and died during the night. They were big beautiful chicks, I am guessing to much humidity during the incubation period which means the humidity gauge is way off. I broke six more pipped chicks out of the shell and left them in...
Incuview Update 8/7
Removed one egg leaking yesterday. It was rotten, that leaves 21 for the hatch.
Just came in at 5:45 two chicks hatched and I see another peeped. Nineteen to go.

We have had nine Muscovy duck adults for around six months and have not lost any to predators. We have lost a couple of ducklings so we keep the mothers and little ones in a pen for around three weeks until the get big enough to roam. If you do not clip their wings a Muscovy can fly a long...
The Muscovy ducks are wonderful. They eat tons of mosquitos and bugs. The meat is very good and not duck like, the eggs are big and make wonderful omlets and light fluffy baked goods.

It is because they are the French Jumbos and size keeps them from breeding properly. Just like double breasted bronze turkeys most French Jumbo Guineas are bred by artificial insemination of which I know nothing. Also the fact that we find their nests out in open fields of high weeds in 98-103...
The guinea and chicken chicks from the first incuview hatch are growing like weeds. Our Muscovy ducklings are also growing very fast. I hope to have an all chicken hatch start on Friday night or Saturday and will update.

Incuview update 8/2/2015: Heading into the last week with 22 chicken eggs. Will lock down on Tuesday and up humidity. Will keep you posted.
PS: Found a guinea in a brush pile on about 30 eggs. We have had up to 103 degree heat in the last month and many days at 98-100 so I don't know if...
I had a Muscovy duck that was sitting on 22 eggs for about 10 days when one of our Australorp hens ran her off the nest and started sitting on the eggs. I have taken her off the eggs three days in a row and let the duck back on them and she goes and runs the duck off the eggs and is back sitting...
