agree with every post on here! i have a standard poodle and he dose great, cases them because they run but never hurts them, and helps to kept them in the yard, and will guard them from the neighbor's dog that likes fresh chicken!
i live in nj looking for a coop design or ideas. right now i have six keets looking to have the maxium of 18. i am looking for one off the ground and be year round.
long story short my girls layed there first eggs yesterday, three small ones, but still layed some. today nothing, i was reading someware it stated not to feed them fruit (which will make them stop laying), and yesterday they got some peaches. so is this true?
i keep the food and water in the run, but the run is open during the day so that they free range, having no problems with them coming back to the pen every night.
is this normal? she walks / runs fine when she is laying on her side she is eating still and picking around, no limping or anything like that. just want to make sure is fine.
i have one of my hens keep ing on her rightside / wing, but she is able to walk fine and acts normal other then lying on her side. is this normal or should i be worried?
Just got my new coop and i am thinking of painting the inside of it? is it worth it or just a waist of time? i am either going to use left over deck stain which is either gray to light tan, or i might have some old cheep out door white paint.
i do live in a suburan area of philly, but i do have a few acres of woods behind my house and last year the hawks, owls and and god know what else killed all of my guinie hens! so i am afraide of free range, would love to do it!
compost needs a few things to work right, heat, air, and water. saying that i made a compost bins out of old fence that the local fence company was getting ride of, made them 4 x 4 x 4, i also put a drainage pipe in the middle that helped alot, it would double the speed of the pile. one hint...
