Do you ship to Canada? I like the markings and conformation you are maintaining in the Partridge's. I am looking to add a bloodline and would be interested in your eggs.

No black on the head or neck. Solid deep red is ideal.

Guidelines for building permanent sand-based foundation for coop & run.

But without the stone, pending the depth of the sand, you can and will reach a saturation point no? Particularly considering what type of ground is at the base of the sand. Some people live in dryer areas vs wetter areas, or dealing with the elements of four true seasons. While the coop and...

I really like the landscape fabric idea, thanks. I can see the value for all the points you raised. Excellent.

Guidelines for building permanent sand-based foundation for coop & run.

I've read some threads on this and am looking for input from those who have built a foundation of sand. It seems there have been people who put gravel down as a first layer, but then regretted it as the chickens seemed to dig it up. But would that be because the sand layer wasn't deep enough...

I don't believe there is an accurate count for the White or the Partridge. This is the current info from Rare Breeds Canada: http://www.rarebreedscanada.ca/poultrybreeds.htm

Please post photos as they mature, I'd love to see how they turn out. May I ask where you got them from?

You may be surprised when their final feather pattern is set. One of your trio has a nice solid red head and neck and overall the three of them are looking quite good. Time will tell! Quote:

I attached some photos on page 2 of this thread to show the feather differences in young pullets and cockerels. At 7-8 weeks you should see the feather differences. Your photos look more like pullet feathering at this stage. https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=243277&p=2...

syble, they're still too young to tell for certain. My guess would be all pullets, but really it's a guess at this age due to the multiple feather changes the Partridges go through. I've never noticed any behavioural differences between the sexes..at least until the first crow!

RhodeRunner, you have some nice looking pullets there. Evenly patterned with relative solid, dark heads. I can't see the detail of the pencilling but it also seems quite good!

    Partridge Chantecler

I posted photos of my Partridge Chants on page one of this thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=243277 Partridge Chants go through several feathering/colour changes and it will be several weeks before you can tell pullets from cockerels. Hope this helps.

The Chanteclers are quiet except right at the moments just before or after they lay and egg. For several minutes they will do their egg-laying sounds, but otherwise they are quiet birds. One point to note, the two colours of the Chantecler are White and Partridge. I think some reference has...

    Chantecler Thread!

Tim, your one pullet is very nice looking. Nice tight comb and wattles, deep red head and neck feathers and quite good pencilling. The cockerel is a nice body size, with good red colouring in his head, neck, back feathers. Unfortunately he should have black chest, belly, and leg feathers. It...

    Chantecler Thread!

Tim, have your Partridge pullets started laying yet? Most Partridge Chanteclers start laying around 24-28 weeks. The combs are good so far. The Partridge Chanteclers do have more of a cushion comb present than the White Chanteclers, so having a small, raised comb is normal. You may see the...
