    FLORIDA!!!!!ALWAYS SUNNY SIDE UP!!!

They are called "Whole Oats". I get the from the local feed store. Ask when you buy them if they will germinate. $12.65 for 50 pounds. (Triple cleaned Racehorse Oats.) I grow mine outside. FLORIDA!!!!!ALWAYS SUNNY SIDE UP!!!

I have been sprouting oats and brown top millet. They prefer the warm Florida weather. Sorghum is also another seed I am trying now. Sprouts fast. If you keep it rinsed good you shouldn't have mold. Good drainage is a must. I rinse twice a day. So far so good. Feeding oat fodder sprouts to...

Another Buff Orp, swollen bottom, eggbound hen #2??

I am so sorry for your loss. I have lost 2 buff orpington hens like that. I have found that if I do not keep a roo with them they do much better & rarely have that problem. Again, so sorry. It always hurts so bad to lose one.

    Hello from Arkansas

Hello from Florida to you Christin. It seems no matter how many nest boxes I have, there is only one favorite nest. The girls will stand in line to use it while the other nests remain untouched. Blessings.

Quote: Yes they hatched at different times. You have to know the stop turning dates & move them out of your incubator accordingly.

Mixing Different Age Chicks in Brooder

I had same problem. The older chicks pick on the younger chicks. Best to keep them separated by their ages.

Newbie wondering if i can hatch ducklings and chicks in one incubator

I'm sure everyone does things different. I have had chicken eggs, duck eggs, quail eggs, guinea eggs & peafowl eggs all in together. With very successful hatching I might add. Good Luck to you.

Old Fashioned Broody Hen Hatch A Long and Informational Thread

Quote: Happened here today. I have 13 setting silkie hens. The chicks have been hatching the last couple or three days. Went out tonight & found a little partridge silkie chick that had been killed by another chicken. I had not put them in with the other chickens yet, someone jumped the...

    Question about mixed flock

For the most part, my silkies all group up with the other silkies. They are all free range & can make their own choices. They are territorial & certain places in the back yard belong to them. I have a couple of silkie hens that hang with the big girls. (They are the exception to the rule.) The...

when should I start getting worried??

Just before I give up completely on late hatching eggs, I float them in very warm water. If there is a live chick in there, the egg will float & you will see the egg gently rock back and forth. (Don't take your eyes off the egg, sometimes only happens briefly.) I'm not saying to give up if that...
