FLORIDA!!!!!ALWAYS SUNNY SIDE UP!!!

I had trouble with mine molding.  I think it was just to warm.  I may try again and feed it as sprouts rather than fodder.  My chickens love the fermented food.
I was wondering about mold in the FL heat and humidity. It would have to be kept inside for sure at least all summer. The northern folks had more issues keeping it warm because their houses are so cold all winter and they had to place by heaters. I read that thought geez not my problem.
So I went to feed store yesterday to buy organic mix to start fermenting and organic scratch to start sprouting. They were out of the feed and scratch was only in 10lb sacs that were full of bugs and looked all broken down, it was clearly very old. Next week ill try again.

I have been sprouting oats and brown top millet.
They prefer the warm Florida weather.
Sorghum is also another seed I am trying now. Sprouts fast.
If you keep it rinsed good you shouldn't have mold.
Good drainage is a must. I rinse twice a day. So far so good.
Feeding oat fodder sprouts to goats and chickens at about 9 days.
The brown top millet sprouts are for baby chicks, they like it at 4 days.
The sorghum I am just trying, so will have to see how they like it.
Oats are cheap, about $12.65 for 50 pounds.
The millet and sorghum cost more, $29.95 for 50 pounds.
Our feed store sells the millet and sorghum by the pound for $1.00 per pound.
5 pounds millet seeds last a good while. So not that pricey to use just for chicks.

I have way too many chicks!! I need to get some room. I have have these for sale or trade
3 cream legbar males 1 week
3 black copper maran unknown gender 5-6 weeks old
2 silkie/barred mixed 1week

Any locals interested in trade?

Hello Fellow Floridians!

I have a broody hen and wouldn't mind hatchling some chicks with my 6 year old girls who help me with the chickens. However, I can't keep the chicks. Anyone want to hatch some chicks the natural way but don't want to do it yourself? I could help you out! I am in the orlando area. Let me know :)

Thanks for all the info!!! Where do you find oats and where do you grow your sprouts? By the way...what are oat seeds called? Unhulled or whats the common name? Thanks for the help...we keep our house at about 77 degrees, do you think it'll work? Thanks again for your help!!

Where is Putnam county? I am in Clay.
I guess you don't want anymore chickens for trade:)
