    Bizarre Wrinkled Egg!

    OK--So today I got an egg that is actually wrinkled. It is hard all over and the wrinkles themselves are hard but it is super weird. Any ideas about why it happened? I have had chickens for about 1 1/2 years and never gotten any like this. So curious!

    I think the eggs have been under her for almost 3 weeks but we were at the beach so I can't be absolutely sure. I will send my daughter out there tomorrow and see if she can hear any sounds from the eggs. The hens let her do anything!

    Yes--there are two separate hens on two separate clutches! We are new to the hatching thing so I hope that is going to be ok. What about starter feed? Should I just feed it to all the chickens? I do supplement with household scraps. Thanks for all your help!

    shredded paper in brooder

    I have put shredded paper from my home office in the brooder. I haven't gotten to the store for pine shavings. Does anyone know a reason I shouldn't use this? The chicks seem ok so far. They are about 2 1/5 years old. I don't want to mess things up!
