First tube feeding done. I was nervous but all the threads were right, I could feel the tube in the crop. I only gave her 15ml of ground up layer pellets gruel with vitamins in it. Her crop is not full but I can feel it now. I figured a little at a time so as not to overwhelm. I do not know if...

Thank you for all of the info. Luckily, I am a Vet Tech, but most of my experience is with dogs, cats and horses! I have been using the Poly-Vi-Sol dropper to get water into Winona and Dapple is still drinking on her own. I guess all I can do is try different treatments and hope one does it...

Now two chickens gasping. Please help! Video.

They are in our half bath. Winona (the red-laced Wyandotte) has been sick the longest while we've tried to figure out what is going on. She has been getting poly-vi-sol, she got a round of oxytet, has been getting fenbendazole in her water (which did make some improvement). She barely eats and...

I have the powdered Fenbendazole in the water. I will pick up the SafeGaurd at TS today. Already ran a course of Oxytet and it did nothing. There is no sneezing, facial swelling, nasal discharge. THANK you so much. I hope this works! Will write back if I cannot figure out the dosing but I...

Both chickens can only eat mash. wormed with Wazine about a month ago. Treated for coccidia before that. Now on Fenbendazole at .5g per litre of water. No weepy eyes or runny noses. We moved and landady had someone else caring for her chickens/coop and they had not been. The coop was caked three...

    Injured wing or Neurological issue?

I do not know if she was vaccinated but she did come from a state tested/approved flock. She is banded. However, I do not know where my landlady's chickens came from... I have done a bunch of reading on here as has my daughter and as her symptoms have worsened we are fearful of Mareks as well...

    Injured wing or Neurological issue?

I have an approximately eight month old Wyandotte pullet who seems to have lost the use of one wing. Can this cause balance issues or do we have something else going on here? She can walk/stand normally as long as she goes slow. She cannot get up onto a roost. She is in good weight...

First Aid & General health, Absolute 'MUST have on hand' for chicken keeping?

We just lost our almost three month old Splash Maran chick, Bertha, to Coccidia and it was fast! I noticed Thursday night about eight PM that she was lethargic and mentioned it to my daughter who said that she noticed at five when she went out to catch our landlords chickens. Checking symptoms...

Flutterby and Ladywolf's Chickies (and a roo too!)

This is my daughter with our almost three month old Marans. The splash Maran was Bertha, we lost her in about 18 hours (from the first sign of a problem) to coccidia because we did not have the medication on hand. So far, our other babies are doing just fine. We are having Bertha cremated as she...

    Chicken feed, medicated or not?

They are under six months, they are just off the heater. There are already chickens where they are moving to but I do not think there has been any coccidia issues. I will start out with the medicated feed as you suggest. Should I give them a bit of grass with topsoil?
