Ok. I can't tell if it smells bad because I just took out another one that started sweating and stank. However, I have certainly noticed that the humidity was regulated nicely by the incubator, but suddenly in the last 2-3 days, condensation has started to form on the window and the water...
2 of 3 died (in the last week). How long should I give this last chicken egg until I give up incubating it?
(I'm the poster who had the power interruption last Wednesday overnight and lost 10 degrees Celcius before we figured it out in the morning. :( )
Hm. Ok. How long does it normally last?
Is it a problem that all three nesting boxes are occupied? Will it stress out the other birds not to have a nest to lay in? Will they kick out the broody hens when they need to lay? Or will they just start laying hither and yon?
Ok, ok! Thanks. Whew! From 3 to 2. :(
While I'm at it, I moved this incubator to my house from my kid's preschool for hatching (they are not even my birds!) and the incubator had a power interruption over night a week ago and the temp had dropped 10 degrees.
Do you guys think it is possible...
It doesn't really stink.
But the exudate has increased in quantity markedly in the past day.
And to "get it out before it bursts and causes you real problems"---holy crap! That sounds awful. Can someone second this advice? I don't want to toss a perfectly ok baby chick, but BURST?! The...
We have 8 1-year-olds and no roosters. We've had 2 broody for about 2 months and 1 more acts like she is going broody since yesterday.
Should I do something to convince these girls to give up?
Also, I only have 3 laying boxes and now all 3 are occupied.
Is there something I should do or...
It's kinda gooey, but then seems to harden and fall off when the eggs were being turned. Now, since it is the last 3 days, they are not rotating and the oozing is just accumulating. Is this egg viable? Is this just a normal part of the process? If not, I wouldn't want the other chicks to eat...
Our Chicken Coop
Hello, friends! We finished our coop months ago, but I finally got around to organizing the pictures! Since the Backyard Chicken website images informed the way in which we built our coop so much, I wanted to be sure to come back and say THANK YOU and also share the results.
I...
I created a page, but I don't know if it works. This is the link as *I* see it. (That doesn't mean it will work.)

Anyway, can you guys tell me if it works? What do I do to make this so that other designing their coop can...
