Ok thanks everyone. I will definately give the treat thing a try. And to the people who wanted to know the breed, I have no idea...I do have some pictures of them on my profile though...maybe you experts can help me identify them?
1) can I give my 7 week old chicks tortilla shells?
2) one of my chicks that I got who was the little one of the bunch still hasn't grown and the chick is now 7 weeks old. The chick stands at about 2 inches maybe 3. The rest are about 2 or 3 times bigger than the little fellow. Should I be...
Sometimes blood just gets into the egg as it is forming. If it happens on every egg that chicken lays, I would have him checked on but if it is a once in a while thing then you have nothing to worry about.
One of my chicks has, how should I say this, Fluff? I don't really know what to call it but it's there haha. I tried to wash it off because I thought maybe poo stuck to him and he collected the fluff thoughout his day but the is actually growing on his feet. Anyone have an explanation as to why...
That Sounds exciting! The one thing I like about chicks that I can't get anywhere else is the personality and the fact that I can have an abundance of them. I am such an animal person and out of all the animals I have had I would have to say I am having more fun with my chickens.
They have really lovable personalities. I am amazed at chickens brains. I did a whole bunch of reasearch on chickens and it made me think that chickens are really dumb (inteligent wise) but they are fun to have as pets. I have learned over the month that I have had mine that they are actually...
The Funny but is pink like the other's and there is no bleading. It just looks like a pink bubble around the hole of the butt. Is that more clear? I don't know how else to explain the chicks butt lol. I will see if I can get pictures up about it. Yes the chick is acting like all of the others...
Oh! One more! I might be getting a kitten and I was just wondering if I should introduce the kitten to the flock of chicks when I get the kitten or if I should wait til the chickens are bigger/the kitten is bigger??
One: When should I start feeding my chicks the grown up chick food? Right now they are on medicated Start and grow.
Two: When should I start giving my chicks scratch/cracked corn? Would Sand also work?
Three: One of my chicks has a bulging butt. It is just sticking out and other chicks are...
I love this Idea! Too bad I only have little chickies and can't participate, but when they get bigger I hope they are fat! I have a fat cat that I got from a sale at the shelter. He is very cute
I played a lot of every thing. One of my friends told me that I should so I did. They really liked chirping to Fur Elise. I also played some rap they chirped to (Tech N9ne) and country like Jason Aldean. I thought it was even funnier when I got to songs they didn't like and they chirped really...
I was just wanting to tell people about how cute my chickens were. I was playing music in my rooms and from the room next to mine I hear a chirping sound coming from my chicks that were following the song and almost in tune too! I went over to them and they were sitting there in a line chirping...
They are pretty messy for sure! But I think that just a few chickens in a huge lot won't hurt it at all. It takes my 17 chickens about a week until I start to see a difference between the new bedding and the poopy bedding. Welcome to raising chickens! I hope I helped a little bit
I give them medicated pellets and yes, I got them from a feed store. The water is tap too. I will get a bigger container for them and see if that helps. As far as the temperature in the container goes, my hand starts to sweat when I put it in the container and they are in a room with no breeze...
Well actually...I have no Idea what breed they are. I know for sure they arn't Conrish X chickens though. Oh and another thing is that their feathers feel really gross and coarse. I have them in a huge plastic container that is 4 feet by 2 feet.
Two weeks ago, I got 8 chicks and I was happy. A few days later, one of them died. I thought, "It's no big deal it was only 3 dollars." However, I wanted to replace the one I had lost. When I went to the place I got the last chicks, i got caught up with myself and ended up buying 10 more chicks...
