My apologies for the less than great photos.
It was make those stretches that roos make when they crow, only no noise was coming out. I hope it's a hen, we can't have roos
So, about 4 months ago we went to the fair. We came home with an adult hen of some sort that is orange and speckled, and will stay tiny, and two baby Silkies- one black, and one white. The Black one made it 2 weeks, then passed. The White Silkie was now the size of the hen, and they got along...
Thanks guys.
The little white Silkie is sweet as can be... and it even fell asleep in my hands today.
The other one... well, she needs to step off her high horse.. I went to feed them today, and she bit the crap out of me 5 times, and flared at me and got all crazy.. I don't know what her...
Well, got some sad news.... The little black one died last night
The white one is starting to really fill in, and the other is a feisty little thing. We put them in a big cage in the yard, and they loved all the grass!
Any thoughts on what the little ones are? They didn't have an ID...
It's pretty cold here... I went outside and covered the cage up with blankets, put a heat light over them, gave them fresh food and water, and they're asleep
I felt sorry for them... I could've gotten the pretties, but I just felt that these guys wouldn't find a home cause of their appearance. They're funny, and I'm sure they'll be gorgeous once they fill in!
Pix as promised-
Sorry for the bad pix, I'm outta batteries for my camera...so I got to...
We went to the fair looking for a White Silkie.. and we ended up with two Silkies ( Not sure on the kinds ) and what they called a "Booted Non-Bearded Mille Fleur" Pullet.
I picked out the ugliest ones, and I can't wait for them to fill in! ( let the record show i deliberately picked out the...
Well, we have plenty chickens, but I've just always wanted a Silkie! So I have a few concerns/questions about them!
1) Are they temperamental? How's their attitude? Can I hold them?
2) How big --or how many lbs-- to they weigh/get when adult size?
3) Are they egg layers?
4) Are they impossible...
Thanks everybody
Usually al we get here is sprinkles....then they usually go up. I guess it's time to teach them. I mean, they where doing great at staying undercover, then they just decided , I guess, that they where bored?
Well, the white one and the black roo have been fighting....time to separate. Does that mean the white one is indeed a roo? I can work on more pics if you need them...
I just don't want three roos!
Well, we had two twisters rip our neighborhood in half about a week ago. A branch from our silver maple, bigger than our truck, crushed our coop. I walked- no RAN- down there to see the damage....and there they where..... Next to the destruction site..... Eating. So thank goodness we didn't...
Now that you mention it...I think she- HE I mean- does :'(
And just for fun....he little black roo is holding himself like this in almost every picture I have of him.
Some of the pictures have this guy^ ( the black roo) in it, and some have the girl.
So, I've got two roo's? Awz.
Hm...ok thanks everybody.
He's not getting beat up by the hens, he just ignores them. ( Walks with them like he's a hen himself, but runs like a hen when danger comes)
I kind of want a roo that will guard the girls, so our poodles will leave them alone.True, it WAS a pain with the last roo who...
Oh, sorry I would've sworn I'd already replied!
mljohnson05, My other one passed a couple of months ago ( maybe 2 or 3 ago). They where both part of the group from the very beginning. Here is the roo that died
crawfordmama, thank you! And, I'm not sure on age. If I'm correct we got him around...
