Hi! Please sign my petition about chickens in Wake Forest! If you know of anyone in Wake Forest who would be interested in signing this also, please foward it along to them! I hope to get more than 500 signatures before going to the town council with my proposal. If you would like to support me...
I have 9 hens, and they all lay in the same nest too - even though there are 3 nests available. I guess they just like a particular one. Weird little animals!
*What temp do you prefer to run your bator at? (Please specify still air or forced air)

Update!
I now have 10 chicks - 8 EEs and 2 Frizzle mixes which were shipped from California!
I have one more EE egg which pipped this afternoon, one other EE egg and a Polish egg that haven't done anything.
I'm at the end of day 22... I'm hoping this pipped one will hatch out fine tonight...
Wow - those are great photos of your chicks!!! If it's warm out tomorrow, I may try to get some better ones of mine too - now I see yours, I want to get better pix of mine!
This is so much fun! Your chicks are adorable!
I now have 8 chicks - 2 more hatched last night.
Both of my Frizzle-mix chicks have hatched... and one is a silver color, the other is yellow! It will be interesting to see what they end up looking like. I can't tell yet if they'll have the...
I've gotten another chick! SO - now we're up to 6 chicks... one pip, and 6 more eggs we're waiting on, none of which have pipped... we're at the end of day 21, so maybe we'll still get some more?
Wow... you guys are fancy shmansy! I've got a borrowed Brower Top Hatch... it's pretty good at holding the temp right, but the top leaks like crazy as far as the humidity is concerned. If I end up doing this again, I might try to find something used, but this is probably a one-time deal for me...
Angiechick - that's wonderful! You're so lucky! What kind of incubator do you have and how did you run it (like temps and humidity levels, how often did you turn, etc) What kinds of chicks do you have?
Still learning, and trying to be patient, Em
Here are a few more pics of my 4 chicks so far! I've got one just starting to zip - the Frizzle Mille Fleur D'uccle from California... I really can't wait until it comes out so I can see what it looks like! Em
This is my brooder set-up...
Here's the early hatcher - the yellow one that...
Here's an update from me:
I went to bed last night with one EE just hatched and soaking wet, bobbling around the 'bator... and one small pip on another EE. This morning there were two chicks happy and fluffed up in there!
AND there are two more Pips!
Another of the EE eggs, and a Frizzle...
NoSpringChick - Did the little Barred Rock with the yolk not absorbed make it, or was it dead in the shell? I hope the other one does well for you! This is so tough - it's hard to leave them when you think you can help! I wonder if I had tried to help that Gold Comet if it would have made a...
She was dead... not breathing or anything. I took her out and opened it up to see what might have been the problem. There really didn't seem to be anything wrong! She was pipped overnight, and then took a long time to zip 1/4th around the shell - I think she ran out of energy!
One cool...
OK, now I'm really sad:(
I went down there and there was a bird that had been zipping, working really hard for the last hour or so... but when I just went down there it had stopped moving... last time I checked, it was zipping, but breathing really hard, like panting with it's mouth opening...
Hmm... yeah - I think I would move them at the end of day 17 too... The only thing I could think of is if they weren't sitting with the fat end up enough...
