One of our lovely Lavender Roos needs a new home with a flock of his own. He and his father have been fine with each other until recently but now this boy has been kicked out of the flock. He is lonely and at risk for predators.

It looks like I'm going to end up with 3 roos and 1 hen out of what is left of my lavender orpington hatch. I had such high hopes for the 9 original babies, but a hungry fox left me with only 4.
How do I decide which rooster to keep as I will only be keeping one. Any suggestions on what to...
here are pics. there are 4 babies. I am calling them 1,2,3,4 for reference.
Below is baby 1
below is baby 1 in the front and baby 2 in the back
Below, we have baby 3
and finally, baby 4. her face is darker and she really has no comb to speak of.
baby 4 again below. I'm...
I ordered eggs thru the mail and had a lovely clutch hatch out May 1. Due to a persistent fox, I am now down to 4 "babies." If I post pics, can you tell me hen or roo? Of the 4 remaining, I am afraid 3 are Roosters.
Do the hens ever have combs? I'm holding out hope.
As a side note, I am...
Seems our rooster throws mostly roosters. We are now overrun! We have at least 9 young cockerels hatched this spring that are in need of new homes. Our hens are mixed breed EEs and produce beautiful eggs of pink, blue, khaki, olive or tan. Not a single white egg layer in the bunch. Don't know...
Mine LOVE cat food. I don't see any reason it would be bad for them, except for the really cheap cat foods that have artificial color in them. In fact, some cat foods are so high in grains and cereals they are more fit for chickens than cats.

A week is not enough time to settle in. As a vet tech and multiple cat owner, I tell people to give at least 2 weeks in the same house before you even introduce them. A small bathroom or separate bedroom is appropriate. You should always quarantine any new pet for about 2 wks. You don't...

You mentioned a yeasty smell. And no one has put him on ketaconazole? If not, he needs to be. It will help with skin and ears. You will not be able to totally clear up the skin if you're still having a yeast over growth
If the budget is that tight, perhaps they should think about finding a new home for the dog. Not that there are a ton of people standing around looking to adopt an 11 yr old Maltese with allergy issues but seriously, don't keep a pet if you can't afford it.
He is reacting to the neurotoxins in...
I work for a vet and I would have recommended she bathe him last night in a stripping shampoo like Dawn. It would have washed all of the Adams off of him. Please do not give sugar and milk. Milk can cause stomach upset and diarrhea and sugar can cause a spike in blood sugar followed by a...
Mine won't eat pellets either. Mine free range so the "just wait until they're hungry" approach won't work for us. I mix pellets, crumbles and cracked corn all together and throw it out every morning. Hopefully, since it is there, they'll eat it if they need to.
