I'm so sorry about your chicks in the bator. my Still Air bator has the heat bar on the lid portion of the bator and when the chicks start walking/moving around and when they hear me and stand up they touch the hot heat bar w/their heads. Thank God I have not had any bad burns, but i know when...

@Blooie God bless Katie and Kendra. our struggles and trials and how we work through them shows our character.
your grand-daughters have beautiful character.
i have not cked out your "kids with disabilities..." site, but i will.
You sound like a wonderful grandmother.
my fan is very light. you could alway tape some little pieces of tissue paper near the fan to see if it is blowing. im sure it is, however, unless it is broken. is it a new bator? I have 4 thermometers throughout the bator and they all usually read different temps. there are colder spots in...
when i open the bator or take off the id the probe comes w/the lid, if i attached a golf ball to the probe it would wack my eggs and possibly break one. i dont think that would be fun for the eggs. i do enough damage to them. if i am misunderstanding you, please explain in more detail for...
does your bator have a temp probe attached to a wire? like this: can you see the "L" shaped probe? that is the heat thermometer. is yours like this? if so, i use to have temp spikes until i make sure i place the probe directly under the heater. does this make sense? try this and see if it makes...
this was not the RD that has pipped at the wrong end. this is a 2nd RD that pipped, zipped and tried to hatch this morning after the 1st RD.
the 1st RD is still alive and still in the same position. it has not zipped any or broken anymore shell off or opened the membrane up anymore.
And, yes, i...
I have hatched 2 batches of my own duck eggs, this year. looking back on my notes, my first batch 5 hatched. and one hatched in 19 hours and another took 38 hours. they all have their own time line. but i would keep an eye on them to make sure they are still breathing and most enough and warm...
I just realized you ask about us who have shipped eggs. I have shipped my duck eggs 2 times and i clean them in the same way i described in my previous reply. thanks
Im so sad, i went to ck on pipping and zipping RD. & the membrane was split a tiny bit and the shell was off all arond zipping area, but i noticed it was not moving, so i listened to it w/my stethoscope, no sound so i gently pulled the shell off and it ws dead.
why did it die? it has only been a...
i have had only 2 batchs of shipped eggs and they were pretty clean... if there is any med/large pieces of poo on them i take a damp towel and just hold it to the poo until it softens and then lightly wipe if off. i do not like to clean eggs for the reason you mentioned. or sometimes i will just...
ok, i did put som triple antibiotic (generic for neo). her beak is just poking out of the membrane and it looks like the bleeding has stopped? it could be bleeding inside, i have no idea. the chick is barely moving this time, earlier it opened it beak very wide a couple of times, to get a breath...
