Hands on hatching and help

Im so sad, i went to ck on pipping and zipping RD. & the membrane was split a tiny bit and the shell was off all arond zipping area, but i noticed it was not moving, so i listened to it w/my stethoscope, no sound so i gently pulled the shell off and it ws dead.
why did it die? it has only been a couple of hours since it started to pip, zip and die.. its not like it was many many hours???
I dont know why the membrane is so thick and rubbery looking?
any suggestions?

Sorry.

That sucks. I wouldn't know what killed it but that membrane does look thick and brownish. Maybe it dried up while it was trying to get out. Amy or Ruby would know more bout it than me though.

someone else will need to chime in on length of time. But if you use your first egg to measure your timing for this hatch. It is still looking good. Imo

One egg will rock like crazy when I play peeping videos but I get no cheeping or movement from the others which makes me nervous. Hope I don't have the same problem that Cindi has right now......

K, I think that's a good idea.  It just pipped overnight and these guys are taking their sweet time hatching.  The first one took over 36 hours and now 2 of the other pippers are over 24 hours and they still havn't cleared the hole out enough so that I can see their beaks.  Is this normal for ducks to take this long??? They will be completing day 28 in about 5 hours so they're not late yet.
I have hatched 2 batches of my own duck eggs, this year. looking back on my notes, my first batch 5 hatched. and one hatched in 19 hours and another took 38 hours. they all have their own time line. but i would keep an eye on them to make sure they are still breathing and most enough and warm enough. what is your temp and humidity in theire? i have been keeping my temp at 102 and humidity at 75%... good hatching

Ok helpful ones, just had a chick that pipped the pointy end and hatch, part of the yolk sac has not absorbed. It is in a glass in the incubator on a warm wet paper towel. Any thing else I need to do?

Hi guys.
I tried looking up pics or examples of a good air cell verses detached one, but it's almost confusing me more? I don't see a blood ring, and there's def viening. My humidity has been consistent. I don't remember other hatched eggs looking like this before?

Question- Does making a safe hole delay the hatching egg??
I'm asking because I have a shipped duck egg on day 27. Inner pip not external pip. There are large veins and the duckling is alive. BUT there is also some free fluid in the air cell. It looks like clear yellow fluid.
Do I need to make a safe hole?? And what is the fluid?? Any ideas??

Could not get the fluid to show up in a pic. The ducklings head is on the right.
Thanks Linda

Did you pull it completely out of the shell? Was it positioned correctly, or deformed in any way? Sometimes the reason they pip in the wrong spot is because of some unknown development issue and it may have just been fate. And I'm not blaming you, but is it possible that you severed a major blood vessel? Just grasping... Hard to guess without more details
